attached pic thumbnails are empty

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by 30dodgeboy, Jan 25, 2006.

  1. I am no computer expert. Only know enough to screw one up I guess. If this were a carb or a transmission problem, I would have had it fixed it already.

When I view posts with pictures attached, there is an empty block that says "attached thumbnails" where the pictures would normally be. This problem seemed to develop about a week ago. Before that, I could click on the thumbnail to open a biger version of the picture. Now the empty block doesn't do anything when I click on it.

Some pictures do show up, but I think they are the ones that are from another website instead of those that were uploaded onto the HAMB.

    Anyone have ideas?

    Thanks.

  2. trying to see if my own posted pic shows up for me

  3. Nope, can't view the pic I posted either.

This site isn't as much fun without pics...

    Help!

I cant see any thumbs since Ryan updated to Version 6 last week. Has to be ANOTHER fuckinn conflict with spyware or firewall settings on this end. I wish it would get straightened out so I dont have to figger out the PC every fuckin time something changes.
    No problems anywhere else.

Yep me too, No manage attachments button anymore, the attach files script is there but does not do anything, and when I try to use any of the HTML feature buttons the highlight just disappears. The Smilies icons won't work, and I can only see some pics. List of members online is gone. I am using Mozilla Firefox, but I logged on using IE and it is no different, maybe it is AVG or Spybot software on my PC. ALso when I try to log out from the IE browser it takes two or three trys to make it log out. Not really much fun anymore, and impossible to do anything constructive on the forum.

Yeah, play roulette. Turn off one firewall or spyware program at a time. Then fix the offender. Every one is different so just play until its fixed and then rerun all the spyware stuff.
Took me a week the last time to figure it out. I dont have the fuckin time to play with this latest fuckup.

  9. Thanks for the tip.

I just did that and the firewall affects the problem. I am using eTrust EZ antivirus and Firewall since it was supplied free of charge when I got Road Runner internet access. The wierd part is that it worked fine for quite a while and just recently the thumbnails are blank.

Is it only coincidence that the HAMB got an update about the same time this problem came up, or is it that my firewall software doesn't like the new and improved HAMB?

    Next question:

Any idea what the setting would be called that needs to be changed?

  10. what do you mean by "on this end" - the HAMB or your computer?

On another website (www.dodgecoronet.com) the thumbnails work just fine on my computer.

Our individual computers need to be fixed. I'll probably get to mine this weekend.
I have no idea what parameters are changable with your firewall. Go thru the various screens and see where Jalopy Journal pop up. There is probably an option to toggle "Allow/Block" such things as scripts, cookies, plug-ins, etc. Try them one at a time.
Im subscribed to about 20 forums, not all car related, and HAMB is the only problem BUT it is also the only one using that particular forum software.

I think you guys are having caching issues. Try logging out of the HAMB, deleting all of your temporary internet files, and then logging in.

The "manage attachments" button will reappear if ya just push "ctrl and f5" at the same time on that screen. Again, that's a caching issue.

  13. I tried that (logging out of the HAMB and deleting temporary internet files (deleted cookies too while there)) and then logged back in - still no change.

Cache and cookie cleaning was the 1st thing I tried. Im gg start looking at Zone Alarm again.
This is really starting to annoy me!

  16. Was that directed to me, or to 286merc?

Either way, no change. The pic thumbnails are still invisible.

I see the reply dialog box looks different (all the font stuff and smilies).

    Any other ideas?
