Short wide 65 F100 .... bed floor and wheelwells are going away, just bare fenders Attaching them to the rear of the bed, will make new crossmembers to lay down a thin sheet of aluminum for spare tire, chairs and such Tailgate will be a shell that drops down onto some sort of brackets That will keep the left and right top of the rear fenders from moving around I want the rear fenders to have enough flex not to bind I have seen solid rubber 1" to 2" thick with built in nuts and various other items Looked on a bunch of off roader sites to get some ideas as well Thought I would ask for thoughts here ( the front end is next ) Ricky.
Short wide F100???? OK, do you mean Flare Side (step side) or Style Side (GM's term...Fleet Side)??? Attaching to rear of cab... Do you mean like the 61-63 Unibody trucks? There's lots of considerations and bracing in the old unibody trucks. These were problematic especially with the doors. That's why the design was abandoned in 1964. Step side.... Ford used the same bed all the way to 1978. The flareside bed was changed I believe in 79-80 to a flat top box but you could use the earlier fenders on the 80s box. Step side bed parts and beds are not that hard to find. Look for old homemade trailers and all of these bed parts are reproduced. Like mentioned... It's hard to visualize what you are trying to do.
