Thanks Fuel. Actually, I wrote to Norm last week, but no response yet. Hey, wouldn't the fastest Australian ride be the Aussie Invader?
Hotrodswe: Great job on that Deuce! Beautiful. Yes, I'd love to have your adventure in the book (check your PMs). I'm doing a story on Peter Fontana from Norway, who will also be crewing/driving for the Rolling Bones. They must get a discount on Scandinavian crewmembers...
Jangleguy - If your serious about this and want to use Ulf's and Peter's story for your book here's an idea. Fly into Albany N.Y. and make the trip to Bonneville with us. Ken and Keith
Ha! I thought you guys might pop up eventually. At this point, I'll probably have to hitch hike to NY, but it wouldn't be the first time I became a human HAMB relay for the sake of getting a story... Anyway, I hope to do just that - maybe it'll work out to ride to B-ville with Peter. By the way, I shot your '40 delivery for one of my books, when Dave had it in Oregon - would be great to reconnect with that thing, too! I'll PM you guys... Scotty
Anyone out there in a far away land, planning to make noise in the U.S. this year? Next year? Still no racers from Africa, South America, or Asia yet. And we can't have a whole book of landspeed racers - we need drag racers, dirt trackers, hillclimbers, roadcourse carvers, drifters, mud boggers, etc. I know you're out there...
Aussie Invader is Jet Powered. Did you use the contact for Norm that I sent you ? Norm has been busy helping a fellow Club member after the floods here. If you do not hear from him let me know and I will ask him to contact you.
Not entirely correct T, The Colonel ,our engine man ,did some bike scrutineering at Bonneville but the rest of us were cooling our heels here in OZ. We'd love to be there for 2012 but I'm not sure how realistic that is.
Norm has just moved workshop so be patient. I am sure he will get back to you. I will ask him at the next club meeting if he has been in touch with you.
Actually, the Doctor DID get back to me, stating he doubted they'd make B-ville this year. But I'm not a giverupper and I doubt he is, either... We have some very cool stories lined up now (enough that my publisher is getting stoked on the project), but still mostly salt runners. Where are the rest of you racers hiding???
I'll see Norm on Friday night at the Club meeting so will ask him if he has been in touch. He would have Lake Gairdner on his mind at present.
Thanks Simon. I have Gairdner on my mind, too - Dr. Goggles and company are headed out there with their belly tank. What if they get lost in the dark or something?
That's a great idea! I'm in the process of building a car at the moment. I don't have any plans for any driving events for the time being, but would like to take it to VLV or some similar show next year.
Farmer: Your Mopar coupe is a total kick in the ass! Love that thing... Check your PMs for some brainstorming material - this might just work out... Scotty
Scotty, I have emailed you as it looks like Norm did not get your email. I suggest you send it again and or send a copy to me so I can follow up for you if it helps.
Thanks again Simon. Wrote him again last night. Maybe he's up on the roof, waiting for water to receed?
No he did not get flooded but your email to him may have been spam listed or lost when they moved to the new factory.
Thanks Staggers. I'm keeping this one on the back burner for now, as it appears this guy mostly drove around in a motorhome and didn't do any racing. But his take on US rodding is interesting and he eventually had a '36 Chevy at some shows. I appreciate the link. Anyone else? Who's coming over here to set the world's unicycle record?
