Event Coverage ***Attention Reno area HAMBers***

Just got an e-mail from Ride Magazine http://riderag.com/ , a fairly new magazine covering Northern California and Nevada. They are looking for some cars to put on a little mini-show during Street Vibrations in September. Here is the info contained in the e-mail:

~We are considering holding it at the Amendment 21 on South Virginia Street (right past the main street block) and it is a huge parking lot area, however, they would have to bring their own shade. Is is scheduled for Friday, Sept 26 3pm – til bar closes (and any time in between)

~$20 reg fee to save a space. Drink vouchers to registrants (but not sure the amount – probably at least $10, maybe $15). We would like them to register so we know how many to expect and know if we need to have trophies, etc or just show for fun. Cars can be brought or parked in covered garage until the show and after the show if car folks want to enjoy other aspects of St Vibes…not sure if they have security in garage or no…but it is not a public garage<O</O

~Pre 66 if possible, but we are open to just about anything. Also prefer Rat Rods, hot rods, chop jobs (sorry if that “name” is offensive – but I think that name is really freakin cool<O</O

~no band, just outside music (no amplified) so I suppose if there was a good acoustic number we could propose<O</O

~we would have a simple, no frills car contest if we knew there would be an audience. In addition, we could have a pin up as well…It is $20 to register for the Miss RIDE contest and they get that back in drink voucher<O</O

~food is down Virginia Street with Street Vibes, this is free parking and viewing…It is at a bar so there is lots of drink avail.<O</O

~no host hotel as this was a last minute option. I was hoping there might be some connections in the Reno area that would show who would not be too concerned with gas, hotels, etc…I think we have room for about 25-40 cars<O</O

~awards…well what do you think? I could try to have someone weld some up if you think it would be a good draw and people would like it…Would/could anyone sponsor this?
