Hey there Greg, I certainly was beginning to wonder what the heck happened to you! Probably out shooting photos for Street Rodder I was thinking. Whatever, welcome back! By the by, are you coming to SEMA this year.
October 21st Cruise is now leaving Beaumont Street at 7pm sharp and cruising Auckland City and then jump on the Southern freeway to Manukau Burger Fuel store Old n Krusty, how are you doing? Been busy shooting features alright. Wont be at SEMA this year, Pro Topline went into recievership.
Hi Greg, Good to hear from you. Don't do anything too radical to the truck. Unable to make any weekday runs at the moment due to working in the evenings. That should give me time to work on the hot rod during the day but...... Been busy doing a bunch of stuff around the house. Bootie, Nice to see another Waikato Hamber. I am in Cambridge. Feel free to contact me anytime. 8234100 alfster@xtra.co.nz
Receivership, that's bad. I thought, from all the materials I saw, together with the actual products, that they really had something. Wrong, as usual I guess. Soooooo, if you are no longer with them what are you doing? Banging away on your cars, I hope. good luck to you, mate.
Alfster and Old n Krusty, I now work at Garth Hogan's Pioneer Auto Parts. Together with Gary Martin and Andrew Rea, Garth ran a 34 roadster at Bonneville with a blown flathead in it called the Kiwi Down Under Taker. Quite a remarkable car really that hovered around 190mph and is a record holder. Garth is still casting the flattie heads that his father made in the fifties for V8's, V12's and V8-60's. I also do work on his collection of early Ford V8's. The freelance thing is going very well and doing quite a bit of stuff for Primedia and also some Aussie publications. As for the pick up, it is going to be at the Rotorua Street Rod Nationals with some work done to the engine and also on the road legally. This required a full floor and firewall and a hand brake! Chassis is done and painted, engine almost back together and body almost finished - heck there is only 5 weeks left! Take care and good to hear from you all - where can I get a HAMB decal? Greg
4eve4banger I will have to cruise over in the '55 for a day trip to the Nats so I might catch up with you there. Dunno if Fish is going to take the hot rod over or not. There are no more of the HAMB stickers I had made. There is a rodder that lives across the road that does vynil signwriting. he has to do a job for me so I will ask him about some HAMB stickers.
Alf, Would be good to see you. Another guy that could make decals is Chris Walton. That rod of yours is a neat little car! Thanks Greg
Greg, Be nice to catch up with you at Rotorua Nats. Problem with the hot rod is that it was thrown together in a hurry for the Scroungers Blow Out a couple of years ago (same time your truck first appeared) and since then I have had a major change of life with the selling of the shop and relocating to Cambridge. The car sat in storage for about a year and although it is now down here with me I am still finding it hard to get time to work on it. Last time I used it the motor was running real bad and then it broke the pulley on the alternator. I finally arranged today to get a guy to make a new pulley but I would really like to spend some serious time on it. The diff was moving around and has had all the mounts remade but it has to be removed for painting and new brake lines. Then the house we brought needs some work. We have built a new garage but need to finish wiring, alarm, phones and wall panels. then there is a deck to finish off and some fencing and the interior of the house needs repainting. Geez, I don't know when I will get back to the hot rod. But one thing is certain. It ain't for sale. That is why we brought the '55 so we could go to events like the Beach Hop and Kumeu. That hasn't worked as we still can't find time. There is a swap meet at Te Kuiti on Saturday this weekend that we will go to just to give the '55 a run. Then we have to come to Auckland on Sunday for the daughters birthday. Might get a chance to call in to the Oogah Boys swap meet. Maybe I should take up stamp collecting instead.

yup iys out in West AKL this weekend, sounds like its only a small place but its being advertised pretty heavy on the radio, Papakura swap is on Oct 3rd at Walters road in P'kura. Might have to hook into the B/fuel run could be fun, nice of someone to open one closer to home )
The swap meet is at the Te Kuiti school. 9 til 2. Didn't know about it myself until this morning. It is in the Petrolhead but I missed it. Will be there is the '55
Paul, the next Burger Fuel Run is Oct 12 at Botany and then we have the Hot Rod and Street Machine Cruise on Thursday 21st October. Format has changed slightly as it will be leaving Beaumont Street 7pm sharp and cruising Auckland City before jumping on Southern Motorway to Burger Fuel Manukau City. The idea behind this is to attract hot rods and street machines from all over Auckland for the lads at Street Machine Magazine to enjoy. They are only over for the Street Rod Nationals in Rotorua. Spread the word and tell everyone about it. Burger Fuel appear to be happy with the momentum that these runs are gathering. Its gotta be good for everyone. There will be flyers to all the Auckland clubs to let them know about it all.
Hmmmmm - might have to drag the old car out and get a new WOF. Sounds like summer's on the way How was your trip Paul ?
Simon, Thats exactly the reaction we are looking for, get those cars out and enjoy them. Rodding activity in Auckland is quieter than it used to be and hopefully these Burger Fuel events will spark some new enthusiasm. Greg
