i bet if she was a cops wife she wouldnt have gotten arrested....

how come is it if i get pulled over for speeding i get a ticket, if my buddy (who's dad is a cop) get's pulled over he dosnt get a ticket?
because his dad's job is dangerous and he risks his life, my dads job (a firefighter) is just as dangerous and i dont get any special treatment and i dont expect to. i think if you break the law you pay the price regardless of who you are.... just my .02

"the thing they said the most was this thing is a death trap. I know this."

And you still went out and now whine because you were brought to task for your decision. I'm pretty sure you won't appear in court displaying the same demeanor that you did to the officer. But why not, he enforces the same laws you were cited for? Let him know your feelings. Well probably not.

Seems like maybe even a legitimate drag strip wouldn't let you past inspection.

Suck it up. Get legal and enjoy your hobby safely.

Who said anything about special treatment? I didnt and neither did the orignal poster that I replied to. Sure some people get off because their daddy is so and so. It happens, deal with it.
Back to my original reply, if you broke the law, knowingly or not, you pay the man one way or another. Ignorance is no defence.

You know, I while back I was learning how to fly a helicopter and I was having problems with the pedals. They control the turning, sorta. Anyway, I made the mistake of saying to the owner and the guy who built and maintains the copter that the pedals weren't working. He layed into me about how it's only the ignorant who blame the equipment instead of admitting they might be doing something wrong causing the problem to begin with. Made me humble, embarrassed and a little smarter all at the same time.

I've read through these posts and have had alot of different reactions to them.First the attitude of the original poster was and is clear.Bad attitudes usally bring bad attitudes in return. The job is very dangerous and you have to be suspious of everyone because sometimes it will save your life. One of my best friends is a cop (and a HAMBer) and sometimes the stories he tells me are horrifying and very scary. For instance there was as couple that comitted a murder in the town next to ours and thier car broke down at an intersection in our town , an officer (that wasn't monitoring the county freq.) stopped to help them push thier car out of the intersection. My friend heard the description of the car and pulled up with his shotgun drawn and the murder suspect dropped cocked handgun that he was holding behind the helpful officer. The officer let his guard down for a moment and was almost killed and didn't even know he was in danger. When I first started hearing some of the stories I thought some of the officers were just jaded or bragging and what not but I quickly realized that it was just a human being trying to deal with the very bad things they have to see on a daily basis.Try going in to house and not knowing if your going to come out only to find a small child that has been severly beaten , molested or worse by a crack head mom or dad. I'll bet if you had to help scrape up brain matter and gore just to find out the indenity of 20 year old that wrecked out his car because was going to fast or improperly repaired his automobile causing an accident you would be having a bad day also and not feel like dealing with another smart assed speeder.I've gotten more than my fair share of tickets but everytime it was my fault. When you grow up a little more you'll realize that you are responsible for your actions and no one else. I also don't believe respect is earned if you give respect to people in general most of the time you will get respect back.I also know that there are some asshole cops and some good cops but that goes with anyone.I've meet alot of people from this board that are good, generous ,just plain nice people and have made alot of lifelong friendships but I've also met some real assholes. These people have thier out look on life and I have mine it's what makes the world go round I guess. I don't know how to conclude this rant any other way than by saying maybe one day you will have more foresight and better judgement. Hopefully!:)

I have a few friends that are Officers. They say it's all a matter of attitude when you get pulled over. If you act like a dick they'll treat you like a dick.
