I have been looking at the So-Cal Auburn style dash insert and thinking about using it in my 32 Ford coupe,,anybody got photos of this type of dash in a 32 Ford?

Needless to say that my current 1970's state of the art dash and interior needs a lotta help!

I'm also changing the column and wheel,,HRP

There have to be literally THOUSANDS of these things being used in Deuce-style dash panels. Have you tried researching using "auburn dash" in here?

I don't know if it matters to you, but some of the reproduction auburn dash insert's are made undersize to fit a '32 dash. this is good for fitment issues but in my eyes looks odd because its like a 3/4 scale version of the real thing. also the double lip at the edge should just be a single so you'd want to grind that extra bit off, or mount it from the back against that surface

    good luck

    How about this ?? :D

Except ... this one was made and cast 125 miles up the road from you in Rock Hill SC. It is going in 3 Deuces sedan.

my 2 cents; i would not use the repro new stuff to replace older "new" stuff....in a nice steel 32. New parts seem to stick out like a sore thumb...or...makes it look like a streetrod?

See what hamb has done to my opinions? :D

and yes, my 32 has no dash yet. I just had a antique car for sale on my lawn. A well known local elderly developer stopped to look at it. Then he talked of the 32 he had in the 50s and said he still has the dash somewhere, and might give it to a guy who needed one. I showed him my challenged car....and he politely left.

Have a original in my 32 Roadster. Sorry the picture is a little 'busy' but it is only one I have uploaded which shows the dash.

Knetch Industries (spelling) Makes a nice Auburn style insert that fits a deuce dash. I put an original in my 3 window. (insert and dash) It will take some engineering to get to the cowl vent. I purchased it from a guy in Colorado 25 years ago for 200.00. Times have changed.

Oh, yeah, you could sell a bunch of those! There are a ton of Deuce's with the Auburn dash-why not try something else? I kind of like your existing dash panel's shape-could you invert it? engine turn it? cover it with contact paper (just kidding)? Also maybe move, or ditch, the A/C vents I think I see to make it a bit less cluttered?

Not a So-Cal piece but definately a repop in mine. Memory is faded at the moment but I seem to recall a guy in Texas popping these off? It's numbered on the back.

Steves 32. Your dash looks possibly like one made by the Hotrod Garage in Sand Springs OK. wbrw32, I never said Knetch was making the dash 25 years ago! I said I bought the original 25 years ago! Read!

That seems to ring a bell. I'd have to dig through a box of receipts to find it though. I can't remember **** anymore. I see Kenecht is in Texas but his is not the one I used. I probably looked at them though. Checked their website & wow- expensive.... but very cool.

I traded a single SW gauge for my insert 15 years ago (had about $10 in the gauge). I got my dash about 10 years ago for $35. Do I have you beat for good luck? :)

  18. Here's a dash I modified to fit the aftermarket panel...

I thought the same thing Danny but I figured if I'm going to look at it EVERY mile I drive, it might as well be nice. The Knecht panel is as good as it gets. I like their "Harper" series too.

You can't spend too much on dashes, gauges, panels, & steering wheels.

Whatever you do though, don't buy a panel with fake engine-turning. A few are selling panels with what looks like a Xerox copy of an engine-turned panel. Parr Automotive is doing this I beleive.

I hear ya Jim,,,this simple job of doing a few updates has taken on a life of it's own!

Just a new axle and some shocks has turned into a total rebuild of the frame!

    And while I'm at it,,,and on,and on,etc! HRP

Alchemy: Ever so often we catch someone sleeping. Your deal is much better than mine, except mine was full of the original SW gauges.

My first Auburn bit was a bare instrument cluster panel bought at Hershey loooong ago for $15.00...that 15 was HUGE for me, too. I had snuck into the show where I saw people crossing over a collapsed section of snow fence...didn't realize it was free, didn't dare find out!
The same vendor had a good one with all instruments and switches, but that one was $75...so far out of reach that I was unwilling even to look at it closely. It would likely be worth more nowadays...

You could probably engine-turn that without too much trouble and have it even cooler.
