This is a 7 day auction for a 1-year subscription to The Rodder's Journal starting with TRJ #44. All proceeds benefiting the HAMB! Here are some highlights from this issue: George Poteets Deuce Delivery The subscriber cover of this issue features George Poteets 32 Ford sedan delivery. Built at Dave Lanes Fastlane Rod Shop in Donahue, Iowa this car has been described as the best 32 built in the last 25 years. This article takes a fascinating look at the owner, George Poteet, and his vast collection of cars over the years. It also delves into the background of builder, Dave Lane, and the work coming out of his shop. Most importantly throughout this article you can see the result of these two working together in the subtle, yet incredibly crafted 32 Ford sedan delivery you see here. We had the opportunity to photograph the Delivery on a dry lake bed 30 miles or so from Las Vegas after last years SEMA show in dawn and dusk lowlight sessions. Don Ferguson and Larry Baloney Fiorentino Coupe The newsstand cover of this issue features the recently restored Ferguson and Fiorentino 34 coupe back to its original racing configuration from the early 50s. This article delves into the timeline of when the two men originally built the car in a San Pedro backyard, to the rediscovery of the car by Paul Gommi in the 80s, and ultimately the four-year restoration lead by Don Ferguson, Jr. for current owner, Ross Myers. Ike Iacono Dragster Pat Ganahl has now owned the Ike Iacono front engine dragster for approximately 20 years. In TRJ #44 we show the inline-six powered digger in its bare metal, mid-restoration form in the studio along with a sampling of vintage photos. Pat explains how, when and where he got the historic car and the long process in bringing it back to life. We plan to feature the car fully restored in a future issue. Keith Weesner Portfolio In this issue we take another look at the work of Keith Weesner. We originally profiled his artwork back in TRJ #19. Since then Keiths popularity has risen so that the demand for his ever-evolving work is now higher then ever. This article takes a look at some of his latest pieces including those pictured here. This Aint El Mirage While the dry lakes of Southern California like El Mirage are often written about, less mentioned, but equally interesting are the dry lake beds just north of Reno. Gino Icardi of Redwood City, California lets us peek into his scrapbook of his time spent racing at this little known venue. This scrapbook includes Ken Fuhrmans Berkeley-based A-V8 roadster as well as many others that raced as a part of the Cal-Neva Roadster Association. Valley Custom Part II Part one of the Valley Custom story was featured in TRJ #43. This issue includes part two in which Spence Murray takes a closer look Clay Jensens role in the work that came out of the legendary shop in Burbank, California. By telling his personal history we can see how his influence affected the work that came out of this shop that is still setting customizing trends today. Mercs In Sacramento 2009 marks the 70th anniversary of the Mercury nameplate as well as the 60th anniversary of the 49 Mercury, regarded as the quintessential custom.
