    Hello,

This five day auction is for a 1 year subscription to The Rodder's Journal starting with TRJ #45. You have your cover choice from the two below. All proceeds will benefit the HAMB, so let's start the bidding!

Here are some of the highlights from this issue:

The subscriber cover of this issue features a dramatic head-on shot of Dan Webb’s Golden Submarine. His modern-day version of the Harry Miller and Barney Oldfield 1916 egg-shaped speedster is a marvel in metal craftsmanship. When Dan set out to recreate the Golden Sub, he had artist Thom Taylor sketch the concept with slight changes including a more streamlined body along with a more aggressive stance. Both the interior and exterior of the Sub display the intricate detail throughout every inch of the metalwork.

On the front of the newsstand cover of this issue you can boldly see the minimalist scallops, panels with fogged edges, and rose lace in two sizes that make the paint job on Kirk Jones’ ’60 Ford Starliner extremely impressive. This article delves into the story behind this mild custom as well as the collaboration between Kirk and Alex Gambino of Gambino Customs in San Jose, California.

Clint Bowyer may be better known for driving the Richard Childress Racing No. 33 BB&T Chevy Impala in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, but we’ve chosen to feature his freshly built ’34 Chevy sedan. Clint had simple directions for builder, Jay Stone, “make it low, make it mean and nasty looking with ample power, make it safe, comfortable and a good handler.” That’s exactly what Jay did with this long and low, chopped and channeled sedan.

Motorbooks recently published a book that chronicles the 50 years in hot rods, racing and film of Dean Jeffries. An excerpt of this book is included in TRJ #45 along with images from the publication. The book, as well as the excerpt, touches on Dean Jeffries’ story from his early childhood experiences with mechanics and metalwork to his evolution as a pinstriper to his work as a concept car designer.

TRJ #45 also contains a full feature on an amazing ’36 Ford cabriolet barn find now owned by John Joyoprayitno (Joyo for short). Not much is known about the car besides its current condition. It has the look and feel of a late 1940s California Custom but was kept in an Illinois barn. If you know anything about the car, let us know. We are dying to uncover this story of this custom.

Also featured is John Mumford’s chopped and channeled ’33 Ford three-window coupe. A blown Ardun built by the late Dave Enmark powers the coupe that was built by Hot Rods by Dean in Phoenix, Arizona. It rolls on old Halibrand magnesium wheels mounted with Coker Firestone dirt tracker tires.

While researching the history of Throttle magazine, a lot was uncovered about the Publisher, Jack Peters. Now that the books have been completed and are almost ready to ship to customers, you can read about the man behind the magazine. This story gives you a taste of what transpired during and since the publication of Throttle magazine in 1941. You will learn about the beginnings of the magazine as well as what happened to the men behind it.

    Happy Bidding!
