  1. HAMB Auction: Complete Custom Interior!!

Auction ends 02/28/2007 at 10:00 PM Chicago Time
    Good luck!!

I’ve taken a lot from the HAMB and now I feel the need to give back. I don’t have a whole stash of cool speed parts to pull from so I’ll offer up what I do have and that’s my talents as an upholsterer. I’ve attached some pictures of my work so take a look and see if you'd like bid. If you have questions, you can PM me and I’ll post relevant answers here. Here we GO!!

First things first. As with anything like this, there are details to the arrangement. Here they are:

    • Car must be HAMB eligible - 64 or older.
    • High bidder is responsible for material costs. I’ll give you wholesale on everything, and I’ll give you the receipts to prove it. I’m not making any cash on this deal but I can’t finance your project either. If I have any materials in stock (foam, padding, vinyl, thread, etc.) that can be used, I’ll donate those.
    • I’ll need the car for 3-4 days, preferably over a weekend. If you can hang around and help with removing and reinstalling seats, panels, carpet, etc that would be great. Extra hands are good and you may learn a thing or two about interior work. (I may be able to put you up for a couple of nights, but we’ll work that out.)
    • You are responsible for bringing the car to me.
    • Your car must be insured for comprehensive coverage. My Homeowner’s policy won’t cover your car just like it doesn’t cover any of mine. I’ll insist you provide proof of insurance. (Welcome to modern America, sorry.)
    • I’ll clear out my garage so your car will be inside. I don’t live in the ‘hood or anything like that, so don’t worry. I’ve been here 15 years with no problems ever.
    • I’ll be available to do this after April 1st but I’m a single dad and I have my kids every other week. I need to do this the week they’re at their mom’s house. If you’re local to me we can work out other arrangements if need be.

The high bidder will get the following:

    • One front bench or two buckets covered and padded as needed. You must have seat frames with springs at the least. I won’t have time to fabricate seats from scratch for you. Make sure your seats fit the car before you get here. I’ll do minor repair, but I’m not helping you fit the seats to the car or fabricate risers and tracks. No time for that.
    • Rear seat covered and padded as needed- If you have a coupe or roadster, I’ll do the trunk in lieu of a rear seat. If you have a rear seat, no trunk work.
    • Front door panels
    • Rear side panels or rear door panels
    • Front kick panels
    • Carpet – cut, sewn and I’ll bind the edges
    • Carpet padding
    • Two front and two rear floor mats to match the carpet
    • Package tray covered
    • Windlace (if needed)
    • Headliner – you’ll need to supply the bows or buy the materials to make them.
    • Recover your visors
If you want something done beyond the scope of the auction, we can work those details out off of this forum. I’ll also guide you as to what you’ll need to do for me before you get here so I’ll have time to concentrate on getting your interior looking good.

Once I get word that the payment has been made to Ryan, we’ll get started. If you’re a serious bidder and have questions, feel free to PM me. We’ll work out all details so nobody is surprised or unhappy. This is supposed to be a place where we look out for each other.

As you can see, this is a going to be a lot of work so please, bid accordingly.

Any chance of a crash apprenticeship? I'd love to give a helping hand if I'm available the weekend you plan to do it.

  11. Sure Denise, I'm willing to work something out. No cookies though, I need to shed a few pounds so I can get back into my prom dress for my 25th reunion in August.

Mike, could the winner hold off until all the snow is gone before having the work done. (maybe do the car around March/April) for those of us not wanting to play in the foul weather

  13. Yes - I am not available to do this until after April 1st. I want to give folks a chance to make travel arrangements and avoid the loving embrace of a northern Illinois winter.

    $900

I wouldn't be able to bring Big Olds your way till around the begining of May.

  15. For whoever wins this, I have some flexibility in my schedule except for the first weekend in May. That's taken with a prior plan. I'm willing to work something out.

Gee Denise, do you need the interior done or something? :p Since you go topless all the time you should go with marine nahgahide. I had it on a scooter I rode year 'round and it held up well in the weather.

If Denise gets this she'll probably need a custom Camera Platform/Dance Floor instead of a back seat.

    What a neat auction!

You are being very generous. That's a TON of work. Hopefully the winner will be a good sport and it will turn out to actually be a fun weekend of work.

PLEASE take photos when you actually tackle this project. That will make for a perfect HAMB story.

    Good luck with the auction.

  24. If Denise wins you can count on photos. If someone else wins, I'll lean on them for pics too. I'd like this to be well documented.

No matter who wins, schedule permitting, I could take photos and notes and document the process.

If it's allowed, I'll add $200.00 to my favorite topless crusin buddies bid.
With my 2 that brings her bid to $1200.00 :D
She's done too much for the Hamb to lose this for a couple hundred.

    Craig

  29. I personally have no problems with this since I'm not getting any of the cash, but PM Ryan and ask him. Also PM Denise and ask her what she thinks. If they both give the go ahead, I'm good with that.

Craig, WOW, what can I say. This is so generous of you BUT I can not accept your very kind and very generous offer. Thank you so much though. It realy means ALOT to me that you would even make this offer.

Mike's auction is so tempting, very tempting for me BUT I have had something in the works as far as interior goes for quite a while now and after many sleepless nights of reflecting I am going to stick to my orginial plan. I will know more as far as time frame goes at the end of March BUT I do believe Big Olds will have his interior by the time you come to visit this summer.

Thanks again for the kind offer but I am going to pass. I'd also like to thank the two other HAMB guys that made a very similar offer via PM's. You guys certainly know how to make a gal feel special and bring her to tears with your kindness.
