I am going on Friday (to BJ). Some good friends of ours are coming down from Denver Thur night and while the ladies are doing their thing on Friday, the boys are going to the auction. I go 1 day every year - usually either Thursday or Friday. Then I watch the rest of the auction on TV. There is not a better seat than your living room couch for Saturday night when the high rollers are all boozed up and battling over the feature cars. One of the guys (Ron Pratt) that buys a lot of them, including that big bus a few years ago and a lot of the Shelby cars, stores them here in Chandler in a warehouse somewhere. I've heard he plans to open a museum some day. We'll see.
I am going on Wednesday. I know I'll never be able to afford a car from there however, it is a great car show. I have seen cars that I never would have had a chance to. I can go because it's here in AZ. I also scored a huge set of Champion tool boxes there for a song. As long as BJ is here in AZ I will attend You guys should see the cl***ifieds during the AZ auctions. **** comes out of the woodwork cause the big money comes to town
Our company takes customers out so I might make it Wed or Thur and then maybe Friday or Sat with another customer that invited me who has bidders p***es which as mentioned above come with open bar!
No reserve is for ****tards who don't know any better. No reserve at BJ is for ****tards who want to see one of Craig Jackson's buddies get the car for the price he feels like paying...
So, how many times have you been there? How many cars have you bought or sold? I'd like to hear about your first hand experiences.
My brother and i go every year on saturday. It's about 5 miles down the road from me. We stay there about 12 hours just to make sure we get our moneys worth. Been going long before it got big and on TV. John
The high end auctions have never interested me. I see no 'hands on' car guys there. It is just not my crowd. I like nostalgia drags, swap meets, junk yards and casual car shows and some cruising. To each their own I guess. Hey Kerry, are there any swap meets coming up? I want to get a space to promote my April events. We had talked about getting spaces next to each other to keep an eye on things. let me know. We usually go on Family day. Take the kids and walk around. Its a lot cheaper. Its kind of cool to check out all of the cars. And its usually the wifes idea. After that we watch on TV. I have seen Ron Pratts collection and it amazing. if you can think of it its probably in his collection.
