This doesn't work long distance if it's not a national bank, but my ch***is guy has taken checks to the writers bank to be cashed, they said there's not enough money in the account to cash it, he asks how much money the account needs to cash said... $1200 check. They say $150, he deposits $150 into their account and cashes said check. Tells me $1050 is better than $0.

I think this is the one you need...

a few people on this post have talked about paypal ripoffs. as a buyer always use a credit card with paypal. if filing with paypal for a refund doesn't fix things, do a chargeback with your credit card.

if as a seller you accept paypal you must ship with delivery confirmation to a paypal confirmed address, signature confirmation for items over $250.00. never leave more in your paypal account than you are willing to give up to ***holes and scammers. they cannot collect anything if it is not in your account.

that's clever. I'm surprised the bank gives out info about how much money their customer has in their account though. Don't think I'd bank with them :D

yall get what you deserve, never pay with check, cash, money order. use paypal with your credit card. the credit card will gaurette the order. other than that all you can do it go kick his azz. or maybe a million magazine subscription in his name.

I have a suggestion. Go to your local state's attorney and report that you were written a bad check. The SA can then prosecute the payor for writing bad checks. Part of the punishment if he is convicted would be that he pay res***ution to you (in the amount he owes you and the fee charged by your bank for having to deal with the bad check.) Hope this helps. Otherwise you can always file a small claims suit against the guy but you probably have to file it in the county and state the guy is from.

Anytime you use the mail to defraud someone or commit a crime, it is mail fraud. You can contact the state's attorney or attorney general's office and file a complaint.

    Then you can't bank.LOL
If the man walks in with a check written on a legit account he has a right to know whether or not there are funds to cover it.
You can check an account balance over the phone with nothing but an account #.
That ****s about getting screwed though.
I have a freind who recently(3 goin' on 4 mo's ago) purchased a center section for 400 smackers with Pay Pal and can't get any money back from them because the guy has none in his account.

Actually, money orders can be forged. So can cashier's checks. But luckily, money orders are processed quicker and are harder to forge. My advise is never accept personal checks, cash is best, in lieu of cash, cashier's check then money order is the route to go. Even credit cards are sketchy at times.

IT IS. you should talk to the local postmaster about the situation. i'm sure aphone call or letter from them (or any law enforcement agency) will get you your money in a hurry... some people are just WORTHLESS!!!

To those that think postal money orders are safe, be aware! They are one of the most recent types of forgery. The US postal service has computerized strips in their money orders but not all banks have/or necessarily use the readers. My wife got taken for well over $1000 with forged/counterfeit Postal money orders last year. One bank cashed them without scanning them. We were out the money from our account. If you get Postal money orders make sure that the bank scan's them or take them to a Post office to verify legimitacy.

Please look on the web about money order fraud then take notice if you buy or sell.

  12. Few things: it routinely takes almost 3 weeks for a check to clear my account from an out of state source, even though they do electronic transfers, it's not done until it has p***ed both banks, an out of state check is only collectable in the state it was issued from, you will have to hire an attorney or make a personal visit to the county attorney's office to attempt to collect. In my state, anything under $1000 can be filed in small claims court without an attorney but has to be done in person, a check is considered a promissory note, an open ended loan, that's why they are hard to collect unless you have aggressive help, most banks allow you to redeposit one time an insufficient funds check.

Place the check-for-collection with his bank and the check will be paid when funds are available, check to make sure the account is not closed. Getting local police to follow up on this is really tough. They have so much big *** crime to handle they probably can't handle this minor problem for you. I hope you learned a lesson, send nothing untill check clears and you have your funds. A cashiers check is what I like, easy to fake money orders. About two years ago I sent $6,000.00 bucks to McClure Racing in Dallas to build a 383 stroker motor. They did not deliver. It turns out Richard McClure and His wife bilked several people out of approx. $500,000.00, federal mail fraud, they recieved probation and res***ution if $ available, to my knowledge none of us have recieved one cent. Feel better about less than a $100.00 bucks? It is a real sick *** world out there! It has not stopped me doing business on internet worlds but I am very careful. Good luck on recovery of your bucks. A call from a local might wake up this mofo!!Good Luck!!-Sololobo

if someone is clearly out to defraud you you have little recourse. using us. postal money orders are by far the way to go. imo!

  16. Post his name, number, email address etc on every HAMB freindly forum there is. I,m sure it would **** to have emails, phone calls ,mail and visits from all over the world. Sign him up for everything available on the net and more. He might get the hint.....

  17. You might find someone on here that lives near Seward that would be willing to accept the check endorsed from you to them of course. They would be able to persue the funds just as if it were written to them. If it were my 70 bucks it would be worth giving it all away just to make certain the ****** that tried to rip me off had his *** in a sling. In NC you are able to collect up to 3 times the check value plus fees for bad checks. You might even be able to work out a 50/50 deal with someone on here.

Go to the Sherriff's Dept. in the PA county or the City Police Dept. and file the complaint. I don't how the folks up there handle that stuff but here in the South in small towns the Sherriff often makes a call to the guy and asks him to bring the money to the office right now to avoid a trip to jail. A friend in the antique parts business has always driven directly to the police dept in a town where he has gotten a hot check. He never failed to get paid because the police don't take this lightly in small town America.

I would go to the post office and talk with someone, like a few others have mentioned, I think you can pursue some help, as you used the mail for payment and it is across state lines.

Then stop by the local Walmart, Borders and Barnes & Noble, go through the magazine rack and take all the subscription cards. I'm thinking this guy would love to have 170+ subs of Ladies Home Journal and Womans World ect. to deal with. When all that dies down then do the change of address form.

Send him love letters from a made up girl. On the envelope put little I love you!'s all over it. have the return addy one from near him. If he has a wife, you know she'll open a letter to her husband from a chick thta says I love you on the outside. End the letter with call me the next time you can "work late". It won't get you money back, but it can make him have a few bad days. It is also fun to do the same thing, but sign it David or Frank or something.

Sorry to hear about your ****ty experience. I think it serves as a good lesson/reminder to all of us that we should be careful when doing business on the net. Plenty of sympathy and good advice from the ys here about how to best handle the situation.

FYI, there iis a book out there called "The art of Cold Revenge" you can get it pretty cheap on the net/ebay/use book store. If all else fails and you know you aint gonna get your $ back give it a try. It wont change anything but it may make you feel a little better.

    Good lick man!

Why go through having magazines sent to him when you can have Questionable magazines sent in his name to his neighbors?

I had an ex-roomate that bailed on me, owing me some money. He wouldn't pay.

I went to "Steve's Sundries" Our local get what you want cuz they got it bookstore and I pulled every card I could find from gay mags and Playgirl type mags, I then had them sent, in his name, to his neighbors, his parents and his girlfriend.

Not that I would advocate anyone else doing such a thing but,,,,

You know his address, look up the property tax records in his county and start adding/subtracting numbers on the same street til you get hits. There's his neighbors......

    I'm just mean.

I haven't seen that book... but in looking I found this one, The Big Book of Revenge Written by George Hayduke, one of fictions most notorious monkey wrenching revenge artists.

I NEVER accept personal checks, or PayPal.
Guys say that I can hold it until it clears. Too much h***le for me. If it doesn't clear, bank charges me money for trusting some ***hole.
