The SR pump was a "marketing" Gimmick, This was recorded in an interview with Ed Winfield. As I recall his marketing firm insisted that he develop a carburetor with a pump as the majority of carburetor manufacturers were incorporating pumps. Most performance tuners rotated the bottom cover off one screw to block the port to the pump. Not sure if that was necessary. I prefer the "S" myself and have found when properly tuned and the engine warmed up they work quite well. I ran BB "S"'s on my 2 port. I now have BB "SR',s with pumps blocked on my Winfield flathead on a manifold sized for C's. I have cobbled together a pair of C 's that I'm going to install this year along with a few more small changes. I think at the 2010 Antique Nationals there were 2 other Winfield flatheads, both had Strombergs, one of them might have had 3 of them. One of them ran 76 we ran 82. But they are still running
Thanks Bill you are confirming what I have been reading if I have trouble it may be interesting to make a remote accelerator pump it would certainly have folks guessing.
