Man this brings back memories. If memory serves me correctly, on the old Aurora cars, the ones that the bodies screwed onto the chassis. Aurora sold cheap 50 cent cars that used the same bodies. So we were always on the lookout for different bodies for our motors. Plus customizing was a blast. My son still has some of my old stuff. Anyone remember this? Gary
is that anything like the Johnny Lightning pull backs from a few years ago??? I picked up a few of those from ebay..
Set this one up about 26 years ago. Seemed like a good idea but had a hard time making contact all the way around.
Check out this ebay item.... WoW!!! #280657665356 HO scale "BIG JOHN MAZ" '41 WILLYS GASSER.. Fantastic detail!!
Yeah it is.. I've already got 2 '41's in that scale.. I just need the decal sheet plus the steelies an' tires.. Plus I could use a decal sheet for this Big 1/6 scale Willys..
I used to set mine up for the Christmas holidays for when my sister's kids would visit. but now they're into video games... Now I just set it up for my enjoyment.. I still get a thrill out of these..
I hear ya, been meaning to clean off our 1/32 track and do some racing myself. Went to a local track that has 3 large tracks and one drag track. It was lots of fun but they are too damn fast for me and my old guy eyes.
My Brother has a 4 lane track set up now that's been up for a couple years. Old Aurora style. It covers about 4 scale miles and has the whole city built around it, including a red light district. The "Hotel Coral Essex" has a neon sign out front, that when the lights are turned on it looks like a few bulbs are burnt out. Then the sign reads "Hot oral sex".
Does anyone remember the 4-speed shifter controlers? Seems like I saw some once, but I have never found any for sale.
cool thread...I started out running with my neighbor years ago and it went crazy from there, typical with any of my racing adventures..lol..went to train transformers then RV power units, the one I have is 30 watts and really lights those babys up. have over a hundred cars that run and have raced in Ohio series and HOPRA races, neighbor went on to taking the "Mr Lifelike" title at the Nats a few years back. I stayed more local than him due to racing "real" cars, lol. still have a 4 lane setup in a back bedroom built on 2 4x8 sheets of plywood,we clean it off and break it out in the winter..have some spirited battles,50 years old and guess I'll never grow up..lol. and to "Pitts" who started this thread I'm out by Star Lake Amphitheater if you ever want to run one this winter..send me a PM.
Check out the video - we are racing "stock" Thunderjet 500 cars w/the only modification: trued hubs, front and back. We are racing on the Aurora Tub. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f_1v1TuxAI loads of fun... k-mac
Today's kids don't have a fucking clue, with their video games they play on-line with people they've never met from another state or country
That blue 65 Vette is an AMT.......A dead givaway is the gray round motor. The Revell had a similar chassis but a flat gray Mabuchi motor. regardless it's a kickass car.
My 14yo has a large collection of 1/32nd cars and I thought he was out of the "nerdy" (his words) slot cars but brings them up now and again. I'll keep the track for awhile longer.
