    Before I set my radiator and grille up for hopefully the last time I decided to put a front seal on the crank. I used a one piece rubber oil seal rather than a rope seal. It was a good time to clean the sump and have a look inside the engine.

    @Wardog is this the first time you have had the pan off this engine?...is that sludge due to the type of oil used as in non detergent?

    I use 10w30 but I also am running a 60s smallblock...I suspect Flattys are different...

    @Stogy Yes it’s the first time I’ve had the pan off. It could be the type of oil or long intervals between oil changes.
    I’ll be using a modern multi grade version of a 50 weight oil.

    We finished the wiring this weekend. I drove it for the first time. I’ve got a few things to finish of but man it feels great to get behind the wheel of this car.

    Congrats on the Milestone @Wardog...the Checkered Flag to a new adventure is fast approaching...glad you've had a well deserved taste of what to expect...looking forward to the finishing touchs on your Vintage Hotrod...

    Thanks for the comments guys. It seems to drive well. The rear spring settled pretty low so today I put 3 more leaves on the top of the pack. Now I need to finish my dash.

    It seems to do everything it’s supposed to, and drive nice. The smithy’s produce a nice sound.

    I finished my accessory gauges today. Apart from refitting some B pillar trims the interior is done.

    Ole Screamer has a three gauge collar now...:D...Looks great Wardog, is that 2 temperature gauges, 1 per side? Sure would let you know how things are flowing...​

    Thanks. Yep, one temp per side. A friend of mine had one temp gauge in his flathead and boiled the side without. Because they have the two water pumps they can run as two separate systems.

    Nothing better than driving around fenderless with the wife next to you, I do it all the time. Great looking car.

    I took my generator to my auto electrician today. He fixed a mistake I had made and set up the output amps on the test bench.

    It’s time to put some decent miles on this car.

    Since hitting the road I’ve been refining it bit by bit. I’ve added leaves to the rear spring, synchronised the carbs and set the idle mixtures, pushed the top of the grille forward a bit, opened up the toe in and adjusted the headlights. The generator seems to be doing it’s thing but I haven’t been able to take it for a drive to check. One thing I was able to do was re shape the accelerator pedal for clearance when braking hard.     I’ve been really busy lately. I’ve had time to change the head gaskets, more of a preventative measure than anything. I’ve also re done the front crank seal. I put in a one piece lip seal but didn’t use a sealant around the outer. It was leaking so I replaced it.
    I’ve driven it the last 4 days and it seems good.
