right oh guys,a couple of questions that need answering, probably more directed at the aussie fellas..
my shed is now finished and the build on my 34 5 window(aussie bodied) is about to commence.as we all know a lot of our awake time is spent thinking about the next build so here goes.
i picked up the body last year with full knowledge it is a reasonably rough body,it's and a 2 1/2'' chop( i think),the a pillars are ****ed in when it was rewelded, the quater window swage lines are slightly misaligned and numerous other areas require surgery.i've been inspired by kiwi kev's thread on a lakes style chop so thinking this might be the way to go,question is what is the legal min windscreen opening,
obviously car will be a driver so it has to be practical.i want full reg, body is on original boxed ch***is.2 nd question, thinking of running a quickchange, model a rear crossmember spliced in,does the stock petrol tank need removal, alternative placed in boot(trunk).does the filler need to be accessed from outside.i'm sure there'll be more questions as the build progress's, thanks, thommo.

  2. Great score Thommo. Ideal proportion on the chop as it sits. As a 1950-ish highboy on wires & Fires? it's love baby. The A pillars do pull in on these I thought. I've always liked that feature.
Unless your short or crave attention I'd dodge the lake chop.
Check out Jakes coupe in Rodder'sJournal; In Vic; Blaby, Nosworthy, Henderson coupes if there about.
Any chance of some <115 kb thumbnail shots? Thanks.

I'd say the best place to get all the info you need, is from the engineer you choose to use to get your coupe rego'd.
Kiwi kev's chop will present issues for your engineer.

Its not a matter of an arbitory amount of chop - its about seating position, steering wheel placement, and available vision., etc etc
fuel also needs to be filled from outside the car - whether you choose to run an inner boot lid, with the fuel filler under the outside one, in order to hide it, but you need to seal the boot area from the occupants in the case of the fuel tank inside the car.

Get a list of the signatories from vic Roads / ASRF websites, talk to hot rodders about who they use, and go see the man, and ask him all the questions.
