I want to order a '49 steering wheel like this one. I'm wondering if any of you guys have heard of pearlcraft?

I'm wondering if there would be any issues with an overseas order.

Is there any companys in the US that do this? They're Sweet!

Ive got one in my 63 Falcon, it was done over ten years ago, still looks great, so I guess thats a recommendation! not cheap, but a beautiful addition to any custom.Guys put em in hotrods too...they kinda look too cl***y for a rod though.
They will do you a matching gearknob too i believe.
the trouble is they dont suplly cores, so youll have to ship your wheel there and back.

Looks like Pearl powder mixed into the clear resin.
Getting an interesting pattern would be a bit of a *****.

That 460AU converts to 354.77 USD Do you also add 150 to the 460 for the core? If you send them the core do you just ignore the 150? sorry... i dunno why i read into that so much

I guess for the quality I would'nt complain... $350 thats pretty cheap for a restored steering wheel in PEARL. I wana do it!

Qmoon I would be cool to work thru you if it isnt a problem. I could send you some cool US stuff in exchange.

    THANKS!!!

Tuck not a problem the wheel only is 460 no horn ring no ****on plus the 150 core he has single spinner cores in stock so you would not have to send over a core if it helped

In regards to how they do it... I went to University with a guy who's Dad used to do it. He found some of the old leftover "stuff" and pearled his own steering wheel. It wasn't as neat as the "real" ones, but it still looked pretty cool

From memory, the pearl effect is actually little bits of "stuff" that they cut up then lay over the wheel, I guess kind of like fibregl*** mat. They then put a clear resin over the top.

So is this just an Aussie thing? It used to be on all of the cool cars when I was growing up, but fell out of favour during the 80s and 90s (like all cool things). [IMG]

i'm suprised some rich mullet headed *** in the states hasn't caught on to that and done his whole car in it.

that would be *****in all over the interior, inserts in the sash, console, door panels...
