Aussie Hamber Cruise with Drewfus ( in MELBOURNE)

Aussie guys, I have a fellow in Tazmania that bought some magnesium rear wheels from me. It's $104 to ship them there with UPS. Do you all have recommendations for a cheaper or better way to get parts from the USA to you guys? Just tryin to save him some cash.

 

Sorry UPS was $340. This is postal slow boat 10 week pricing at $104/

 

Unclescooby: Slow boat is the best bet....if money's the problem. Other price sounds about right, although I dunno if the strike at the ports in LA is over yet.
I bring all my stuff in by air.

 

Thanks, I figured $104 was as cheap as this was gonna get and he didn't complain any but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a chance to save him some dough. I couldn't drive it there for $104. My truck gets lousy mileage in the ocean.

 

That would be US dollars Uncle. Would be another 30 odd dollars to get it to Aussie dollars. But hey that is the price we pay for where we live. Besides you don't come across Magensium wheeels everyday. Well I id a while back, but they were here in Aust! Geoff aka Whodaky

 

problem with UPS is they couldnt track an elephant once it left the states, a bloke i knows intake went via AUSTRIA to get to AUSTRALIA. Plus UPS then when it arrives here take it to customs to get declared ( $80) for this privelidge, then the customs fee.

If it goes via US post or a courier company on the sea they dont charge for the customs assessment, just the cost of the customs duty.

I got caught once and FEDEX isnt any better. BUT if he wants it quickly, then they are probably the way to go.

Oh just home from a night with drewfus and the gang, not a bad turn up, Peddro was there too. I took my camera but didnt take any photos, will leave that to drewfus to post...
