This Chevy is interesting - most utes are based on passenger cars but this one has a truck front clip.
FX Holden ute on the Great White Dyno More info here: https://www.dlra.org.au/profiles/024.htm Cheers, Harv
That appears to be a 41 PU in post #543 not a ute, This is a 40 Chevy coupe utility Here's a friend's 35 Master Chevy
This passes the Aussie ute test. I would gladly drive this to the bottlo to pick up a carton of beer (maybe not Heineken though ). Cheers, Harv
Recently I found this on the State Library of Victoria (Oz) website. Magnifying the pic enabled me to read the badges: it's an Adler, maybe 1938 model. Probably built by a coach builder in Victoria in very small numbers as a ute. It's photographed on the same concrete as the Willys panel van/sedan delivery (post 1215) in 'The Ultimate Willys Gasser Thread'.
Man! I hate those pics with photo bucket written through the middle. They are annoying to look at. Ruins what would be a good photo. Whoever owns the brand needs slapping. May as well scribble all over the photo. They are pointless now.
The first ones very cool. The last one looks a bit like a Hyundai. If you sold it I'm sure your could buy a cool car instead.
I think this one qualifies as a ute ... pretty sure it's a 1938 Dodge. Sleight Funeral Directors, South Melbourne, Oz. Photo is from State Library of Victoria and was probably taken by Lyle Fowler 1891-1969 (Commercial Photographic Company)
This Chevy looks like a street rod that's been burnt out, the wheels look aftermarket, and there's a brake booster bolted to the fire wall..
1936 Ford CX straight-sided roadster ute (small capacity 4 cylinder side valve). There is only one known survivor of the CX straight-sided roadster ute. This period photo would be quite rare. (State Library of South Australia)
Image from Ford Heritage Vault: '1955 Ford Popular pickup special conversion'. It must have been a Ford UK build so it maybe it shouldn't be here ... but it looks like it was inspired by the Aussie Ford utes.
