How many guys going to Coolangatta Queensland for Cooly Rocks On?Would be cool to meet up to say hi...Rod.....
I'm heading to Coolangatta at this stage and won't be supporting Wintersun (Been going since 1991) in Port Macquarie. I know some others that may be heading to Port Macquarie?
Cooly Rocks On is the most retarded name they could of possibly come up with. I doubt anyone was saying Cooly in the 50s or 60s (maybe late 60s) when Coolangatta was the Honeymoon capital of Australia & is the wrong name for a festival that is suppose be paying homage to that period, they should of just called it "Coolangatta Rock n Roll & Nostalgia Festival". The Port Macquarie Wintersun is a weak imitation & I hope dies a slow death. On the positive side I will be going to Cooly Rocks On for a look. ps the website is also retarded.
Yes going to Cooly.Been doing it for 20 years and you can't get a better spot.Good luck to the Wintersun organisation but while I like Port Macquarie I don't think it will live up to the atmosphere of Coolangatta.
Are either of these actually HAMB friendly as far as vehicles go? I know my parents went to wintersun a couple of times and the old man was really dissapointed with the cars. I have never been to either,so just asking? Jimmy I agree, Cooly Rocks on wouldn't get me there. But , hey, you never know might be a good thing. guess I will wait for the photos, that usually tells you.
Hey Flat oz both events will have hamb friendly cars coolangatta has last few years had over 1000 plus cars.As for Port Macquarie can't say as it is in a new spot this year.Sorry to hear ya dad didn't like it.The only real hamb friendly cars only event in Australia is the Chopped show in Victoria
Yes if we can jump the registration hurdles again.I think the new code is in now and we should have a better chance this time around.Otherwise I will bring the 63 Riviera.
Hey guys, I'm Gold Coast local, why drive for 8 hrs to go to another festival! anyone want to catch up send me a note on here. RodL Plumbers - Mate! If it wasn't for us you'd be in deep ****............
Will be staying at Kirra van park along with about 20 other pre 1965 cravans and mine will towed with a 41 Chevie pick up. Cheers Rod (the other one)
I agree Jimmy, but Steve (the main organiser) told me it's only until they think of a better one. Besides, it does tell the "story". Look forward to seeing you there Rod. We should catch-up too Jimmy.

Me & and the ol girl are booked & coming over .Did think about Port M, but when we looked into it Coolangata was looking a better option for us ' Would be keen to meet up .Tell some sheep jokes ! Steve
Hey Rod i might be heading down in the Kingswood if i can get it looking presentable, if not might have to hitch a ride with you in the coupe or maybe in ****s Roadster although knowing you guys you'll be there for the week. I'm still not sure if i'll go even if the Kingswood is looking decent. Mark (MGT).. i see you cruising around Wello all the time haha. Never in the Kingswood though, always in the missus Ford Laser.
Meet up at the kirra caravan park Friday at 4pm if that sounds cool.If not I'm in zone 2 say hi.also in the Sunday night cruise, not long to go now see you there...Rod.
Hey guys, I seem to have lost the thread until 2 nite. I'll being staying at Twinnies Thurs to Monday last weekend. Car in Division 1. Sunday nite cruise. It'd be great to meet some fellow Hambers. rod@gascoservices.com.au. rodl
I know the name is corny, they were talking about dropping the 'on' next year. Apart from Steve and a few mates on the car committee, I don't think any other organisers really have much idea of this type of festival - music, cars or otherwise. This year is a big learning curve which hopefully will add to next years fest. It's up to guys like us to let them know via feedback on the website etc. I've been involved with the car committee and know the main organisers value our input. How about meeting up at Cooly and cruising up to the KOA sausage sizzle. We could either meet there or I'll put myself in as the cruise leader from Cooly. If you caught the "Great Sth East" segment the other weekend the 55 Cussy was mine! CU there or be Square! rodl rod@gascoservices.com.au
