Phill, about time for an update, how did the rest of the trip go. It was a pleasure taking the two of you for a tour of the Niagara region, thanks for stopping by. Dave
Well we have been home almost 2 weeks now and are still on a high from our holidays. After we left effingham we headed to Auburn to the Auburn Museum. How the other half lived. Then spent the night in Maumee Ohio. The next morning (monday) we had breakfast and swapped stories with Von Rigg Fink, daughter and nephew. Then onto Detroit and spent the rest of the day at the Henry Ford Museum then found Hotrodladycruisers house for a couple of days of rest and hospitality. Thanks for everything Denise. From Detroit we crossed into Canada and onto Niagara Falls for 2 nights. Spent an enjoyable evening with Davej and his good lady Cathy. Thanks Dave. Moved onto Mount Joy PA to stay with Ralph and Lyn Crammer. Thanks Ralph. Next stop was Washington DC for a couple of days and a look at the Smithsonian. An amazing place. From Washington we headed west to pick up Skyline dr to follow the Appalachian Mts down towards Atlanta GA. Spent 4 nights in Atlanta with an old friend who moved there from OZ about 20 years ago. Went to some old yards and rod shops and picked up some parts for Wendy's Squire wagon and some rear fenders for our oldests sons 37 Ford Pickup From Atlanta we went to Memphis and toured Graceland, Sun Studios and Comp Cams for information on injection for the Model A Sport Coupe. I had won some Model A parts on ebay that were near Garfield in Arkansas so thats were we headed next to pick them up. Next we headed through Oklahama city, followed some of rout 66 and then onto Lubbock TX and a look at the Buddy Holley center. From Lubbock we went looking for Aliens in Roswell NM and then onto Albuquerque NM. We arrived back in LA late on Saturday 9/22/12 and spent the next few days packing things to be sent back to Australia (the back of the Dodge Caravan was full) and doing some tourist type things like visiting the NHRA Museum etc. All up we drove just short of 8,000 miles through 25 states and a small part of Canada. We Found most of the car parts we had on our list plus a few we hadn't thought about. We got to see most of the things that we set out to see and then some, but the most important and memorable part was meeting so many wonderful people and getting to spend time with them. Thank's to you all. About the only part of our trip that had a big change was not going to New Orleans again. Now for some work on the cars and to think about another trip. It better be sooner than 15 years next time. Thanks again Phillip & Wendy
