Hi this is the first time I have contributed to the Hamb. I have an interest in British cars with American engines. My current project is an Austin A60 countryman that I am currently converting to a V8 specifically a Buick 215. The Buick is the same weight as the original 4 cylinder. I have attached a W50 Toyota gearbox with a converted BorgWarner Rover P6 bell housing to the engine. Another modification is the conversion to MGB kingpins, with MGBGTV8 rotors and princess 4 pot callipers. The diff will be changed to a Riley 4.3 ratio. Steering will also be changed to MGB rack and pinion. The car and engine is influenced by the Oldsmobile Rockette. I am trying to bring about what BMC could have done in 1964 when they had access to the new alloy Buick engine. This is a 10.5.1 compression engine is out of a P6 Rover complete with a Mallory distributor, Edelbrock manifold with twin Rochester’s extractors better cam etc.
Slow progress but the brakes are now finished. The MGB kingpins have being adapted onto the A60 along with the new MGBGTV8 rotors and Austin Princess 4 pot callipers. The Buick engine is currently at the engine builder. The crank has also being sent to the machinist for the manual conversion
Nice job. Very interesting mix of parts that most on the H.A.M.B. won't follow Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
