You don't know what's going on until you make a "Balls out pass" The 02 won't make a difference. I have a friend that runs a TF dragster. Injected ownly. Calls blower cars "Belt driven parts destroyers". And he's basically right. He's got an old TFFE hanging from the ceiling in his garage. belonged to his Dad. Won't sell it. Because he's right on another thing. The stress put on the frame because of the nitro blower engine.

He tried to make a balls out pass but the blower wasn't spinning fast enough to even feed the engine enough air to make 0 boost hell at wide open it still was at 5" vacuum I was there and it sounded terrible above 3000 rpm but once he gets some boost in it and more fuel its gonna be a force to be reckoned with

  3. Here's a boost memory kit from good vibrations http://goodvibesracing.com/XRP_Gauges.htm similar to a tire guage. It reads your highest boost during a run, then you push the button to release the pressure. This way you don't have to video your gauge to see what it was doing.
Just as a little comparison on pulley percentage to actual boost and how different it can be. I have a non-stripped 6-71 on a 540 ci engine, at 8.2 % over driven I'm making only 3.2 pounds boost at 6,000 rpm. That's a small blower for the cubic inches.
Here's a chart from BDS that gives final compression ration after boost for reference as well. http://www.strokerengine.com/BDSBlowers.html

That sucks. I guess pulley change time.

Not that's pretty cool. I'm assuming it would work just fine with turbo boost since pressure is pressure?
    Sorry for the hijack! LoL!

It's hard to look over at the guages when you're WOT and things are moving by rather quickly! LoL! One of my buddies rode with me and I wanted him to watch the guage and afterwards he said "no freakin wonder you're tearing things up!! You spiked 20psi and it dropped back down to 16!!!" I said Well..... That would explain why it's runnin so hard on pump gas!! LoL!
I'll look into one of them, thanks!

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming!

If the seat of my pants out here goofing around on Elm Street is any indication I think we are in for one wild ride. Believe it or not it does not even sound the same. I mean it sounded awesome before but now it sounds completely pissed off! Trying to get a dyno session set up this week...

AFR at idle went from 11.5 to 1 with 35 pulley to almost 16 to 1 on the 32!

We are pretty excited. I have squeezed out some chassis dyno time for the Austin tomorrow morning. Now we are going get down to making this run! Nothing like a mad scramble less than 3 days from the HAMB Drags....but we are all in!

Off to the chassis-dyno this morning. But first, my tuner needs to know what fuel we are running. I have always assumed from all the e85 rhetoric that it would be impossible to get true e85 this far south. So I have always figured we would be tuning on the winter blend of e70 or what ever is in the pump. But to know for sure, I decided to test it last night. After doing a bit of research I found it was extremely easy to test. Here is how you do it. First off, you need something that will hold and measure liquid in a graduating scale. I chose a paint mixing cup which I got for free at the paint shop yesterday when I inquired. :D

    Resized_20160818_061434.jpeg
If you want to make it really easy, pick something with 11 lines. I chose the ml scale on the cup, counted 10 units which was the 500 ml mark. I filled the cup with my fuel to this line. Then I carefully added one more unit of water over the 500 ml mark. I stirred it up really well and let it set. It took less than a minute for the gasoline in the e85 mixture to start separating from the alcohol and water mix. Within 2 to 3 minutes, as you can see, there was a solid line between the two. Since I used a graduated scale with 10 places, I can read that as a percentage with the 500 ml line being 100% and the line below it 90% etc. etc. As you can see the line clearly falls around what I would call the 93 to 94 percent area. Since we added another unit or 10% water to our 100% fuel, we have to subtract 10 from that percentage. Meaning the fuel in this cup is around 83-84% alcohol. Pretty darn close to true e85!

Well we are off the dyno and pretty darn happy! On the first full pull I went from 2750 RPM to 6,000 in fourth gear. Our AFR ratio at WOT was 10.5. That is just a touch fat on e85 but my carb guy said leave it alone. We made almost 600 hp at the rear wheels on a max 9 lbs. of boost during that run. We played around with the timing a bit, a degree north and a degree south of 35 but it didn't really like either so we just left it alone.

The chassis dyno we used is about a mile or so from where I work. So I decided to just drive it back to the shop. I get out on the divided four lane street between there and here and open it up a bit. I am in second and watching the boost gauge. I run it up to about 4 grand and shift to third and it is ready to fly. I am probably doing 60 or better in a 40 zone. I double check the stop light coming up and it green so I just let her roll. Just as I am blowing through the intersection I glance over to see a State Trooper first in line sitting at the crossroad light. Open headers, no plates, 30 over. All I could do was smile and wave. He waved back and gave a thumbs up out his window! It's a good day!:p

WAY KOOL! But most cops are pretty liberal with gettin' on in an old car. Even in the Chicago area! As long as things aren't done stupidly.;)

600 at the wheels? The thing has to be making 8 to 9 at the flywheel, maybe more!:) People keep telling me I'm not gonna do 1000 w/a 514 Cad.

It is usually about 15, 20 percent tops difference between flywheel hp and rear wheel hp. It has a lot more in there I'm sure but at 2250 pounds what the hell do I care. Lol. Right now it is happy, healthy and safe so I am probably not going to go looking for much more.

There were another couple of numbers that I got a kick out of. After we had the car strapped down we started talking about the up coming run. I ask what gear we would run in. He said usually third. He added high gear gives the most accurate reading of hp (driveline in the 1 to 1 ratio). I said well that wouldn't be third in this car, this is a five speed. Oh he replied, what rear gear are you running? 3.50 I replied. He raised his eyebrows a bit, how fast will it go he asked with some trepidation? I said who knows...that is why we are here. I could see him doing quick calculations in head and then said, well just try 4th... :p:p:p

During the pulls in fourth we went from 2750 rpm which was 60 mph to 6,000 rpm which was a 127 mph in about 4 seconds! Eat your heart out Enzo!
