This past weekend, a group of us Kontinentals made our third annual post-RoundUp run to Del Rio to attend the George Paul Memorial Bull Riding Championship. Turns out that some good friends in Austin are linked into the folks who supply the bucking stock for CBR events, so we got us a hookup for the full VIP treatment, Del Rio-style. Long story short, a '46 Merc coupe, a '51 Merc 4-door, a '32 Ford coupe, a '64 Riviera, a pair of '53 Mercs, and a rusty '32 Ford sedan all lined up Friday morning to head west. After the main event on Saturday night, we headed over to our host's ranch to fill up on midnight BBQ, beers, and booze as folks took their turns on the guitar, serenading the dusty West Texas crowd that was gathered under the pavilion. Magic. Here's a few pics -
LOL I thought you meant a different Del Rio and I was going to say that I could use a quart of Vanilla. Looks like you had a good time. Pizza and ale in august?
Ya know before I figured out better ways to get hurt I really wanted to be a rodeo clown. I always figured that they were the smartest people in the rodeo business. The got to play with the animals and always got a paycheck.
Hey pnb all you need is the rodeo LOL but seriously I think the bulls might be a bit quick for you now.
Thanks, SWIFTY! Couldn't ID the bug, but it apparently ate a cantaloupe just before I hit it! The bull is Ice Man... he's retired from being bucking stock, so he spends his days in the shade being a big ol' teddy bear. Kayla is his best pal and basically lives to give him chin and belly rubs during her weekends on the ranch. Life is good.
That's Reggie's... built it when he was 23 and recently dusted it off... 383 and Camaro-centric chassis. It hauls the beans!
I have never moved too fast. I have been called Pokey a lot over the years and I don't really resemble Gumby's horse.
