The North and West sides of Austin are the more desirable parts (no gun fire at night) Some of the Southwest side is pretty OK. Austin used to be a well kept secret for cool but the secrets out! I lived in New England for a while in the Navy. You're gonna' hate it that you wasted so much time before moving! You will be shocked at the affordable housing and open spaces.
