There's always something going on in Austin. Check out the Saxon Pub on South Lamar if it's still open. Or the Continental, depending on what you like, though there's some overlap there. Stay away from Sixth Street. As far as car stuff, don't know what to tell you, I didn't have a car when I lived there.
