I looked in on the Feral Sports Car club web site and found a chilling warning about the government proposing to enact costly new regs on modified cars. This will be run by a "private company" for profit and I think we all know what that means. Everyone will pay through the nose. These things need to be stopped before they take hold or they never go away. I hope this is not a violation of the "no politics" rule but we all need to be vigilant about these laws.

Is that Australian cars in the States?? Lol. We had the same crap a few years ago in the UK. Some bright? Spark wanted to hit classics, modified and hot rods with taxes and strict testing. Now you don't need a M.O.T yearly!!! Get together and give em hell for what they are proposing.

Not necessarily a bad thing, as long as the "Hitlers" don't take control .

In NZ ,all our modification compliance inspections were privatized years ago [ with all the shitboxes I saw on our roads back then this was badly needed ]

Over here in NZ the Hot rod associations worked together with the NZ Govt to sort this all out.

Our land transport dept doesn't need to worry about modifications on hot rods , that is a specialized area so it is now contracted out to specialists

In Aussie ,I believe they don't have roadworthy checks every 6 months like we do [ hence the need for tighter laws ]

We still have freedom over here, but as long as our freedom doesn't endanger other people [ that's the point where most people misunderstand ]

  7. Prime reason for organizations like SEMA that have watchdogs looking out for the car hobby in the United States. HRP

Nothing about this to my knowledge. The recently introduced National Code of Practice seems to have made things easier for registration at least in Queensland. And with Hot Rod registration schemes in place in all states and working well I don't see any problems except maybe in Victoria where it appears that the permit scheme is not the best.

I think you need to look at the "Feral " website and form your own opinions.
They certainly are not a group for hot rodders or custom car people!!!
    The name says it all.

Have a read again on the Feral site. Click on HERE about the AOMC proposal. It is NOT as bad as it looks. In Australia we are all restricted but this is aimed more at restored cars that have a lot of modifications. Is seems the restorers are concerned that some cars are almost hot rods when the reality is they are upgraded to make them usable in today's traffic. It's not politics, it's restorers trying to protect their positions, and no, I am not a restorer. I have rescued my hot rods from them!
