  8. Not really pre-ww1 in age, but I bought an original Walter Gotschke water color study of a 1908 GP Mercedes at speed, to hang on my wall. very happy puppy today.

    (Google translation...from french)
150 photographs and drawings, mostly unpublished, and large extracts from his diary are met for the first time in this book, dedicated to passion of the great photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue course.Lartigue for cars has turned his sights according to his wishes, on many different theaters: the Gordon Bennett Cup 1905 at the Grand Prix 1978 Monaco Grand Prix through the ACF of the big time, but also the hillclimb Gaillon 1912, the inauguration of the Linas-Montlhery in 1924, racing the "Roaring Twenties"in San Sebastian, La Baule or Cap d'Antibes, the Indianapolis 500 in 1967 ... even shoots The films in Monaco Racers Grand Prix in 1954 and in 1966 had attracted her curiosity always alert.

Lartigue immortalized, to our delight, the Lorraine-Dietrich, Darracq, FIAT, Schneider, Delage, Bugatti, or other Peugeot and Alfa Romeo, resulting in his immense and unique talent this chic impression of speed. "

Interesting. Back in the mid-70's I was pretty much a fine art photography freak and he was one of my heros. He lived in a great time and given his family's wealth, was able to travel and attend all kinds of notable events - boats, aircraft, cars, etc. Thanx for the tip, I'll have to get a copy. Gary

    David,

These guys give me the impression that they are Soldiers around the WWI era. Maybe they put together a buggy at a motor pool somewhere?
