Apparently, Hector Krieger Vasena, the fast Argentinian co-driver of Tracta nº 31, used to halt at Arnage, to play tangos and share a glass of wine with the roadside campers, to spend some time and match the strict average of 80 Km/h , established by the team, aimed to spare the engine and secure their final classification. Engineer A.Gregoire, the Tracta designer and driver, was very happy with Hector’s regular pace until the morning after the race, learned the singular way his extrovert mate had to be “on time” every lap !.
That conservative pace relegated the trio of splendid “Gephi” Tractas behind the class winner Salsom, in spite of being clearly faster.

The 1929 edition was more rewarding for those smart front drive French pioneers.

 

Brave Eugenio Siena met his fate when lost the control of his works Alfa-Romeo 312 V12 trying to avoid the Cortese Maserati 6CM 1.5 "Voiturette", at the 1938 Trirpoli G.P.

Yes Manel, you have the correct story and I belive this info comes from the book I got to see some years back written by Gregoire himself. Do you know of any other source of Tracta 1928 information? This would help me a lot. Regards

Perhaps can look at French "Forum-Auto" or "AUTODIVA" forums.
Diverse sites devoted to the model cars have also short features of Tracta.
The Volum 43, Issue 3, of "Automobile Quarterly" contains a Tracta feature.
The Tampa Bay Museum in Pinellas Park, FL, has one of the 1929 Le Mans cars.
