History Auto Racing in Maine, 1911

I wanted to share a link to an online exhibit re. auto racing in Maine in 1911 that I thought you all would have fun with and find interesting. This comes from the Maine Memory Network—the statewide digital museum that my organization, Maine Historical Society, runs.<o></o>

The exhibit looks at beach racing at Old Orchard Beach, and hill climbs at Poland Springs. It’s got great images. It includes racing Stanley Steamers, and a bunch of other neat old racing cars/enthusiasts. If you use the Zoom tool on any of the individual photos, you can see a huge amount of detail on the cars, people, etc. The exhibit is written for the general public but I think there would be a lot here of interest to HAMB readers.<o></o>

old orchard beach.. that brings back memories.. my buddies parents had a beach house there... we partied so hard there.. from what i remember lol
