Does anyone know about a switch that lets an electric fan run freely when driving at highway speeds? Does it have to be a fan with an electric clutch like my daily?
An electric fan switch on and of automaticaly when its neded and not neded almost never runs in highwayspeed they have a termoswitch
Your current fan has an electric clutch?!?! Never heard of such a thing. Electrric fans are controlled by coolant heat. Yours shouldn't be coming on at highway speed unless there is something wrong
Agree with Carl,..... I'd check the coolant temp sensor,.... it may be bringing the fan on at the wrong temp. Another thought,..Does it have an adjustable switch that may need to be reset. 4TTRUK
Are you looking for a product to control the fan at speed? Last year when I was as SEMA I remember seeing a fan controller that connected to the electric speedometer pulsed output to do that. I do not remember who it was Derale or Spal or someone else but thought it would be more trouble than its worth. Just one more thing to go wrong that you really don't need. A fan relay with a thermoswitch is all I have ever used, when running AC use a Trinary switch on the AC system to turn the fan on. I will be crusing SEMA this week and if I find it again I will let you know.
