I want to ship a vehicle in an enclosed trailer(about 350 miles) on the west coast.. any specific companies to stay away from?
Yes, lots of them. Many of them are complete crooks. Ask them a simple question: Do you have your own trucks and drivers? Get it in writing. If they don't, all they do is act as a middleman. Check the vendor section on right here on the HAMB for real owner/drivers.
I have found that same thing to be true as stated above.. all putting wind in their own sails.. the internet reviews state the same.. that is why I am asking.. thanks for the comments..
The reality is: There is a waiting list of vehicles headed from the west coast to the east A 350 mile west coast haul is not appealing to most folks hauling A 350 mile haul usually involves more unloaded miles than loaded miles Your best bet is to go after it yourself ..... Jim
Stay away from Nationwide Auto Transporters. When we moved to to Hawaii I had a pickup scheduled from them on a certain date. They showed up a week early and demanded that I give them the car then. Needless to say I told them to piss off. I later found out the $500+ they wanted charge me would be for transportation from my home to the Port of Oakland, a distance of 22 miles. On the phone they'd told me they had to ship it to Long Beach. I wouldn't trust them to carry a box of donuts across the street.
Here's a bit of good info on this old thread for anyone who is searching: Read the FAQ about auto transport brokers at http://www.fastautomoversusa.com/
Just use one of the Hamb transporters,,I've used 2 of them with no problems and all of them have solid reputations. HRP
