some really cheap plastic car or thems the toughest trees alive for there size

not much left of that car...

  3. Its whats left of a UK/European spec Ford*******. But looking at the pictures, it doesn't look like an Autobahn. They are just likr the Highways here, safety barriers on both sides, which aren't visible in the pics.

    However....Hell of an accident!

Yes, it is or better was an european Ford*******. I don´t think it happend next to an autobahn. It rather looks like an east german country highway to me. They have lots of trees next to the road there which cause many deadly accidents.
That´s what an autobahn looks like:

In Germany it is legal to drive as fast as you want if you are not endangering other people.

Baumi is right. I've been on the Autobahn many times and there aren't trees that close. It's really a very safe road system..... plus you can go like hell [IMG]

I have no idea. I just stole that pic... Maybe it is a fake.
I ´ve searched for "Tachobilder"(speedo pics) in google and found that.

I think the Autobaun is a really safe road also. From what I have saw. You don't have all the idiots drving in the fast lane all the time like you do here either. That picture could maybe be a fake also. Because you can do a test with a BMW while turning the key on and pushing a couple of*****ons. it will do a system check and run that speedometer and tach to the max while sitting still.

Man that a pretty crazy crash though..

It's not just the roads that are safer, it's the drivers. In Germany, getting your driving license is not unlike geting a private pilot's license in the states - and costs damn near as much too!

Lots of "harsh" rules & it isn't too difficult to get your license revoked for good = incentive to drive like a normal person.

I'm not much for bigger government, but we really need a national driver's license and some real training to go with it! Taking a 30 question multiple choice test & driving for 10 minutes with the most challenging thing being parallel parking ain't much of a test! If you don't speak the language, you can either get a test in your own language or have an interpreter "help" you [IMG]

Yeah, the roads are kept in good condition, the drivers know the rules and are alert.

Doing 110 MPH for an hour or two is as boring as any other long distance driving, exept you are making good time.
The biggest danger is that you might blow up your engine.
( yep, I've done that, English Fords dont like to run flat out for a couple of hours straight...)
To bad Germany is the only Country left where you can legally drive like that.
Every where else the rules seem to be based on keeping the dumbest most incompetent drivers out of trouble...

It's safe in some respescts but pretty damn scary in others. The last time the family was there we had some nerve-wracking times changing lanes. If you are in the slow lane stuck behind a truck going 60mph, you better have some hellacious acceleration to jump out when the left side is all going 120+ mph. We had a minivan that would go 130 and it was tough. I can imagine some people with the small hp fiats and volkswagens trying to change lanes.

I have driven there with very slow cars ( the slowest were a Fiat 600 and a Alfa Romeo Van, about 70MPH pedal to the metal ) and some faster ones, driving from Holland to Italy ( parts hunting for my Italian cars )
Never had a problem ( exept that engine blowing up ).

  14. That first pic up there is normal "roadkill" here where I live around Berlin. The kiddies have very fast little VW, Opels, Fords. They are often on dope, or drunk or both, have their license for like a few months, no experience behind the wheel, but driving 1800pound cars with 150 horses. It's a tradition here that friends or parents of the victims put a little wooden cross besides the road where their beloved got killed. And thrust Me I know places where you find 4-5 of 'em a mile. When "The Fast and the Furious"***** came out, dead had a few busy weekends.

A PPL/A(private pilots license) license is about US $7500 and a drivers license about US $2200 here .It´ll take at least 16 theoretical +16 practical(driving)lessons before you can do the test.
I´d rather have less strict traffic laws over here, last year the police confiscated two of my buddies´ hot rods in Berlin just because they were fenderless.A bit too strict in my eyes.
About 7 years ago I did a trip starting at my uncle´s in Toronto, to Montreal ,down to Boston, Rochester, Niagara Falls and back to Toronto.Ít was new to me to drive on a Highway at a speed of 60 to 70 miles an hour, but I was much more relaxed than if I had done the same distance a day at a speed of 120 mph over here.I really enjoyed it.
I really like to go fast if I´m in a hurry but if I drive 120-140 mph for a couple of hours I loose concentration.Bad if a truck pulls over on fast lane while you fly by. As ever, pros and contras...

In most states, it's a 30-50 question, multiple-choice test (half are just signs), about 20-30 minutes driving, and probably less than $50!! So you see, ANYONE can get one. Once you've got it, most states even have online renewal so you don't even get your eyes checked to renew!!! [IMG]

    Scary.

Notice that in the 200mph hour speedo pic all you can see is grass out of the front screen. I know there is a bit of side angle, but not that much surely? [IMG]
