I participated with Gene Winfield at his workshop at Syracuse this year. He signed my book about him. But it was not that big of a deal as was him remembering my and my gals names days later when we ran into him judging cars on the fields of thousands of cars and folks. Oh yeah still have Ed Roths signed shirt from the 80s.

I used to get autographs from Harry Weber, Bruce Crower, Harry Jackman, Fred Offenhauser, Bill Pendleton (JE Pistons), Jerry Jardine, Robert E. Petersen, Bill Thomas, Parnelli Jones, Eels Lohn and some others every month, but since I cashed their checks, I no longer have their autographs!

I also have some signed by one of my hero Darryl Starbird....I was in awe of his work from when I was just a little guy and got to meet him at his house in OK a few years ago....nicest guy ever!

My wife got Carroll Shelby, Dan Gurney and Phil Hill all to sign my 1/18th 66 Ford GT as we had lunch at the Fabulous Ford Show at Knotts. Have a photo with Jimmy Shine and Mondo from Denver's Choppers, etc.

But my most prized is Ed Roth signing a Rat Fink statue my daughter made and posing for a picture with his arm over my shoulder giving his trademark thumbs up with is tonque sticking out!

I've got a Weesner drawing that he signed at the Roundup. That's about it. Not big into collecting autographs or stuff like that.

  18. I have Linda Vaughn's. Seems really nice
Richard Petty's on a picture of my Shelby Hertz car(wish I had Caroll's) Petty was
visiting Starkey hearing aid when I worked there. He must have volenteered to do a signing. I stood in line a long time to get it. Really a cool guy.
John Force tee shirt. regular good guy.
Ed Roth on a Tee shirt.
Angel Selige(?) on a hat. Oh baby!
Paul LaMat on pic of Graffitti 32 & me in 1984

I really never tied to get autographs in the past. I try to buy a T-shirt and get an autograph for the car guys when they are around. I sell a lot of old car paper items that have them in them and I figured the least I could do is put a little money back in their pockets when I can. I have picked up Barris, Bob Riggle, Garlits, Doc Watson and Winfield in the last few years at show.

Gene Winfield signed a vintage Car Craft that he was featured in for me. A helluva nice guy.
I'm interested in the personal memory of meeting and talking to these guys, who were truly special in what they contributed to this hobby and sport.
I have no interest in the autograph of someone I've never met.

Richard Petty's on a Daytona 500 Program, he said Hi & I said Thanks.

Smokey Yunick's on a ARP catalog ( at the Daytona trade show he was standing at there booth with a few pretty famous Drivers - I handed Smoke the Catalog & asked if he would please sign it - he barked back ( You want one of these hero drivers to sign it not me ) I snaped back - NO - I want my Hero Smokey to sign it..! - He smilled pretty big & we talked for at least 1/2 an hour )

But my Fav is a thank you note & Signage by Big Daddy Don Garlits drawn up on a mock - up canopy from SR30.

I only like them if they are on the bottom of a check..

Just not my style I guess.

Years ago got to chat with Jesse James before his show in Boston about my own car - that was cool - he had some great ideas which I have tried since then on other rides. Have also spent time chatting with George , Gene and Chip too- Id rather do that any day.

Tex Smith bought me a buffalo burger lunch at Mike's in Driggs once for helping him flag Americruise cars into his place. We packed Don Garlits dragster in Coors for the trip back to Florida at the hotel after the World Finals in Fremont. I've stood under the stands with Steve Evans to get out of the rain at Bandimere in Denver for an hour or so while we waited for the clouds to pass and the track to dry for the final round at the Mile High Nationals. Norm Grabowski made me the Normskull in my avatar for a Deuce I was building. Sold the Deuce but kept the skull! Dutch painted my motorcycle gas tank because I left it parked right by the shop one time. (Guess he was bored). Shot pictures on the starting line with Dick Landy... Hitched a ride with Denise in Big Olds on the salt... Does that count? LOL

Seriously, I've got a bunch over the years. But, like others said, It's the people that matter, not their signatures. In the computer room I keep a poster signed by Linda Vaugn, and a pair of stuffed rats. A Swamp Rat and a Rat Fink. Each signed by a "Big Daddy". I have some "R" rated cartoons Pete Millar gave me. :) Those just refresh the memories.

Some great stories and autographs mentioned here, but the best one I got was from my psycho bi-polar ex-wife on the bottom of my divorce decree.

Once in a while somebody would come up with a program at Bonneville and ask me to sign the picture of my car. Good luck on that being worth something someday

Ed Iskenderian. I have a Big Daddy also. I've never been much for autographs but this print warms my heart.

I almost forgot that I have a shirt signed by the other Big Daddy too. He was always a favorite of mine as I followed him as he surpassed all of the major drag racing milestones in records through the years.

  30. I'm not a collector but I do have one from Gene Winfield on a lead paddle (Thanks!!) The only other signature I have is Janis Joplin's, though I would like to have a Roth sig.

    Doc.

EDIT, Hell I almost forgot, I have a signature from the porn star Serenity, it says
'Thanks for the great night, love Serenity'
