In this day and age of "alternative" energy resources and the race to make them viable for mass transportation I thought I might pop up a couple pictures of an interesting project by Ford Motor Company in 1968. The Autolite Lead Wedge was yet another facet of Ford's Total Performance program of the 1960's. I'm sure this went a good ways towards disproving that electric vehicles are boring and slow. This thing went a buck forty one......

It would almost be an out of body experience to drive 140 on salt without an engine's soundtrack and vibration feedback.

  3. That's a young Jerry Kugel in the driver's seat. Jerry is the honored hero at the Goodguys Del Mar show next month. I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you how it felt to drive the wedge.
