I like old trucks. All sorts, mostly clean originals. Nothing fancy. I don't like much contemporary truck design; it looks bloated to me. Have a 1976 GMC Sierra Grande with a 350 and an 1986 Chevrolet C10 with a 305. They are both solid, plain-jane West Texas ranch trucks. I'm a novelist and essayist, I like good writing, and I hope to make my autoliterate blog a home for good writing about trucks, cars, highways, and aesthetics. Also I admire good photography so there are plenty of photos of old trucks on my site...plus others--like Mercury Charlie's lead sled, posted earlier this week. I'm learning to work on my trucks myself, and have a lot to learn. I like tools. Guys are passionate about cars and trucks, which is interesting. I admire the skill, committment to craft, and sheer intellectual power of guys working on cars and trucks; I'm trying to learn more about how skilled mechanics think through problems. I have a weakness for dragsters and especially funny cars of the Sixties. I live in Maine and in West Texas.
