Anyone ever have the bezel and glass lenses fall off a tach ? I went on a 290 mile cruise yesterday, got up early to clean the wagon, when I went to wipe off the tach the bezel and lenses falls in my lap. I will be calling AutoMeter in the morning as it being a Sunday would be pointless. The tach still works just fine and attempts to reattach it were not successful. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if there is a home brewed fix for it. Thanks !!! IMG_3997.JPG IMG_3999.JPG IMG_4001.JPG

Why did they blow the whistle at a leper hockey game?
Because there was a face off on the ice! :D

Sorry, but I just couldn't resist.

Can be had in a multi-pack, with accelerator, on that rainforest site.

That would be my guess and a manufacturing flaw. Going to bend up a couple small flat 90 degree pullers and see if I can persuade it back into place as getting to the wiring to pull the unit out will be a pain.

That would be a good plan if I can get the crimped area back over the housing, so far no luck and yet it came off !

I wonder if heating it a bit might expand it enough to get it back on? Would definitely have to be careful with the glass.

Test to see if you can walk back on ,
If So then see if you can easy remove,
If So afew little dab of clear silicone or few dabs of superglue Re install ...
I would start @ top try walking as move closer to bottom on both sides .waybe help with using .003 feeler gauge .
With all the Autometer gauges I have I've never seen that happen
70 to present most of mine tho are Comp

Weird been on the car for 4 years with no issues, still trying to get back on without damaging it any, in case of a possible replacement from AutoMeter. *It is a no go without doing damage to it. I took the glass and plastic insulator out and just tried to see how the bezel would fit on the housing and it's not even close and can't even get it started. My guess is it was not "seated" on the whole way from the factory and stayed in place half cocked until now. Guess I didn't inspect it enough when I bought it... Will see what a phone call comes up with tomorrow.

If Auto Meter can’t or won’t fix it I would bet Roger at Speedometer Service on Villard Ave. would be able to help.

Any chance Auto Meter gauges are made by Stewart Warner?

Gosh, haven't been there in so long that when I was there I probably dealt with Rogers dad or grandpa. Guessing I haven't set foot in there since 1977 or so. Waiting to hear back from AutoMeter's service department, I think it would be hard for them to deny it was a manufacturing defect...but then again.

Not sure but they are based out of Sycamore, IL. and appears to be made there and USA made.
