    Hello,

Many years ago, my wife and I joined the local auto club for its benefits and tow packaging. The history of the AAA auto club goes back to the early 1900 and the So Cal version is associated with the AAA. They only offered auto policies for towing and other small items. We bought it for the towing packages for our daily drivers and in 1965, for my red 65 El Camino.

Since I was on the road from So Cal to northern cal for going back and forth to college during the holiday visits, the tow package was always there. Back then it was good for 25 miles. So, if something happened on a deserted portion of the long highway, I could get towed to the nearest garage or fix it place within 25 miles. Longer distances to a preferred shop beyond 25 miles and I would have to pay for the extra miles.

Luckily, the many time I drove to and from the college nearly 400 miles one way, I was lucky not to have called the AAA for help. The 1000s of miles in our surf trips and up the coast trips to the SF Bay area dn all over california during the last two years of college had the AAA coverage. When my wife and I got married, we also had AAA as a back up security help in case one or the other was out and about and got car troubles.

We still have AAA as a backup for towing. Now, the policy is for 100 miles to the nearest garage or dealer. We have used it three times in 10 years and it has paid for itself. So, the AAA auto group is a good well respected back up for all road trips and services.

The one thing we never had but I noticed it on a cool blue 1936 Ford Coupe in a coastal city one day. That silver emblem for the license plate mount was a classic item offered back then.

Now, it is a historic item that is sought after for its value and locality in So Cal. YRMV

Unusual (rare?) slip-over hood ornament for 34 Ford. I know Norlipp products sold a lot of accessories back in the day and folded in the 60's but haven't ever seen one of these.
