I agree that everything but the nose looks great. I know he's not done with it, and I think Foose has a lot of talent, but if he was going for a fighter 'plane look I'm thinking he should've built it as a modified. Maybe with a streamliner or track nose with a belly-pan, or better yet a belly tanker. I'm sure it will look fine when he finishes it. Just thinking out loud.
I too will be there Sunday. Chip's car...at the very least, fresh thinking. And yeah, color will make all the difference in the world. Regarding one of my "heros", Ed Roth, we don't have to like everything he did to "get it" do we? Talk about out-of-the-box. Rat Fink will always be there for us. Us that do get it anyways. Guess my 1st venture will also be the basement. While I don't and never did care for ratty looking rusted shit as hot rod mat'l, I get that too. Better to look beyond huh? How's the custom contingent? Hope to see plenty of chops and sections there this year. Gotta have some fresh batteries in pocket for the camera. I have some work in there too. Nothing anyone here may care for. But a white Super Street Mustang. My employer. Real fast work on getting it ready...an Autorama tradition. For those of you that make it there, I hope you have a great time and see the things you like.
I just got back from my first Autorama and it was pretty cool. WAY HUGE, my feet are so sore from walking I had to peel off my boots like banana's just like Bugs Bunny had to do when he went to the army. A few thoughts: 1) Who ever owns this car: Not only is it friggin sweet but I also saw the guy do the coolest thing I've ever seen. He saw a little kid and his dad checking out his car and he asked the kid if he wanted to sit in the car so his dad could take a picture. Not only was that just an awesome thing to do but that is something you would never have seen upstairs. 2) The Lunar Lander is awesome on a whole diffrent level... It looks good here on line but it is stupid awesome in real life. I can not believe how great it looked. I was really stoked on seeing it in real life. 3) Dirty T, your car is amazing also. The chop is visually amazing, the slope of the back combined with the trail dragger looking rear end is perfect. The interior is wild, I really like it. Overall pretty much everything was cool downstairs. There was a lot of cool stuff upstairs too but it just seemed more corprate up there. People were kinda distant and cold up there where down stairs everyone seemed genuine and nice. I looked around for the HAMB meet but I couldn't find anyone so I got to meet exactly nobody. I did get to see Cooter and Eddie Munster though. The line to meet Cooter was stupid long and you had to pay for a picture of Eddie Munster but still it was funny. If my damn legs didn't hurt so bad I would go outside and work on my car but instead I think I'll hit the sack.
here is a pic of the original one.story i read in Mopar issue from the factory, not the over counter magazine,is that some of the engineers from Mopar got together and rebuilt a clone of the original.they couldnt seem to find the original so they built a clone.yes, they became the Ramchargers.also,a few years later they took the rear fenders off.there is more on that car in Gasser Wars Book.
[qote=ProEnfo].cc[/quote] ...can anyone tell how they jacked up the front suspension on this car? Did they just use longer ,stiffer coils? Thanks
A BIG Thank You to all of you who posted pics for those of us unfortunates who live elsewhere and could not attend!!! You always get better coverage of events like Autorama from the H.A.M.B. than you do from the paper mags. Thanks again.
Never mind.... I bought a set of Pontiac head castings that I thought he could relay from Chicago to Pine City....but they won't get there 'til mid-week.
Thanks for the pics everybody ! I love the tall wire wheels on the Foose Roadster and the "rest" is pretty cool as well.
Looks like the Ramchargers coupe. It was built by engineers at Chrysler, this car lead to the cross ram intakes and equal length headers on the Chrysler super stock cars, from what I read.
THere are a bunch... check MercMan1951 's post that sums up all the Autorama posts and you'll see some. Bob won 2 trophys... a pro's pick and a best traditioal custom? I think?
Thanks!!! I just talked to him...He should be making it home soon!!! He said he took a bunch of pics too!
