Hi I've picked up a 48 f1 steering box for my av8 and was wondering if anyone has pics for fitting to the a Chassis and mods to the steering box mount flange thanks.

  2. F 100? or F 1? are you sure of the year?

  3. There are so many existing threads to mention. I just searched "f-1 steering" in general discussion and found a bunch of threads. Good luck

  4. do a search for AV8 also. alot of well documented builds.

48-52 is an F1, and 53 on up is F100. If your box has a big nut on the end of the sector holding the pitman arm on, it's an F1. If it has a pinch bolt holding the pitman arm on then it's an F100.

Also the 48 to 52 F1 steering box has the steering shaft at the bottom of the box and 53 to 56 F-100 had the shaft at the top of the box either could be better for certain applications. Both mount to the frame the same way. If it's had water in it be wary of the bottom bearing land getting pitted.
Vern Tardel has a great little book "ford steering" on how to fit a effy box to a hot rod.

  7. The guy the model A guys go to is Randy Gross. Even though you don't have a stock Model A you might contact him and see if he can help. Email melmodela@aol.com or phone 714-292-8660.

Thanks for the info. Sorry it's f1 has big nut on sector shaft holding pitman arm and steering start at bottom of box. I'll have a look in some of the build threads for pics.
