Hey Nick C, you might want to repair your "petals". This mistake was made twice, so it isn't a typo. Petals are found on flowers. Pedals are found in automobiles clutch and brake systems..
Yes, I used 40 pedals in my 29 roadster. Clutch linkage was super easy to do with my 39 ford transmission
C yes it works very well. I am not the best at getting pic were i want them, but if you go to my albums and look at the roadster/pu build you can see what I did. The frame was a kiwi conection and I fabed an X member mount like the original that the pedals were mounted to. You may be useing the A frame but same principal.
Bolted to the 32 K member using the master cylinder flange bolts. And then a gusset added to stop them from flexing. They work good. Car has been on the road for two years now and no issues at all. Here is another setup I just did on a T roadster. With a 4" Z in the frame, and a 4" channel, the clutch linkage needed some major modifcation to get the angles right.
I'm using f100 brakes in the front and ford 40 in the rear. What would be the best for a master cylinder?
I'm using a 39-48 master cylinder in both cars. The 29 has 40 brakes all around, the T has f-1 in the front and 40's in the rear. This should work fine for yours.
But those are "39 pedals in your pictures not '40s. On a set of '40 pedals the clutch arm is on the left side. To use it, from what I've seen, you'd have to have some sort of frame rail mount for the shaft into the bellhousing for the clutch. "39s are what you want.
Well I'll be dipped in ****... I thought 39-40 pedals were the same. So a 40 clutch works the same as the 41-48 then with the slotted shaft instead of the upright lever?
'39 pedals are a "one-year-only" application. That's why '39 pedal ***emblies command bigger $$$ for folks that know what they have. The ones pictured are, in fact, '39s. The two pedals and the bracket will have a number beginning with 91-A. '40 pedals and bracket will begin with 01-A. DD
When Henry introduced the column shift with the side shift transmission in 1940, the clutch rod had to be relocated over near the framerail to make way for the shifting rods on the ******. FWIW, I'm using F1 pedals in my coupe. Just another option...
If you compare '39 and '40 and newer pedals you will find that the clutch lever comes out on the right side for '39 and over the clutch pedal for '40. The '39 will line up better with the lever on the transmission making the conversion easier. Can the '40 pedal be used? Yes, it is just a little more difficult (what does the rest of your crossmember look like?). As stated before the '39 is one year only, more desirable and thus more expensive. Charlie Stephens
Interesting. I'll have to see if the linkage lever on the right or left Plus I learned that my spell checker is not worth anything.
