Boss I also agree that war era or 50s pin up girls are part of the heritage as well as some salty language. The problem as I see it is what battle to fight, which hill to die on? I’ll support you with what ever needs to be done, you’re a sharp cookie and will get through this BS

WOW!..I can't believe that the world has come to this. Pin-ups, nose art. What's next? I feel innocent of any real wrong doing but why do I feel guilty at the same time.? It's a sad day in the world.:(

Every last one of them is worthy of fighting to me... So I will in my own little ways. My brain is mine and I'll use it as I see fit.

So larger mediums have their own ad networks or, at the very least, their own team of people that sell ad space. Given that, they don't have to use ad bidding platforms like I do.

But mark my words, they will soon be getting (if they haven't already) the same warnings my platform got.

Sadly there is tons of***** that gets forced down our throat every day on television and other media, I can't watch TV without getting pissed about stupid***** I feel is wrong and the zeelots love it.

Freedom of speach is fine if it conforms to some pea brained censors way of thinking, at least you have a magic tool to keep them of your back, the avitars is another thing. HRP

Boss, you gotta weigh the plusses and minuses and I'm sure you will, I think as most have said, we'll make the needed adjustments.
I gotta say though, there obviously is a "group" of people (outside the HAMB) that need to find a hobby.

Wow. Not really surprised, though. The HAMB is the sanest place I go on the internet, in spite of our hoodlum tendencies. Thanks for telling us.

One of the main reasons I joined is the well defined terms of use for us. Especially no off topic topics, just period correct vehicles and the like. Hopefully you get it sorted out and can keep us old freaks out of trouble…

  12. They've gone after the big boys, now it's filtering down to the smaller fish. Anybody who's been paying attention knew this was coming as other recent events prove.

I understand Ryan's frustration and share it, but at the end of the day this is a Hot Rod site and a lot of this stuff really shouldn't be here. As to comments in the post text, maybe you should post the proscribed words. The English language is pretty rich, I'm sure there are alternatives...

Fellas... Please... I beg of you... Don't taint this thread with pseudo-political stuff. I know it's hard, but we can't go down that road.

I just want as many people as possible to see this thread so we can move on...

Ryan, we were sharing a bit of conversation in another thread and then I see this..:(
I have written and rewritten this a number of times. I hope it doesn't cause issues.
EDIT: I have also edited it again after reading.

Ryan, know that if/when you say your goodbyes and pull the plug, even when you are tucked into the bunker under Atomic or on the island, curled into a fetal position and singing along to ‘Killing In The Name’ while clutching B&W images of things no longer legal for personal transport or ownership, you will have admirers across this globe.

Wow 70%! That’s a real*****er punch to the gut. Truth be told, I’ve been wondering when this place was going to get hit with something of this nature.
Maybe I’ll change my avatar to a sailboat just to be safe.

This is a small price to pay to keep the hamb around and profitable for Ryan. I’d probably just delete all avatars if it was me, way easier. Ryan is being cool by asking us to change them, thus allowing us to keep that feature.

My avatar is just a bunch of my friends and family hanging around in the morning cold, leaning on their vintage transportation, waiting for the Hot Rod Hundred to start.

If an internet robot takes offense at such things, I suppose I can change it. It would be sad though... There is nothing more "car culture" in my mind than that group of hoodlums waiting to drive through the Ozarks.

Whatever it takes boss. This is not the hill to die on.

@Dan Hay A small price, but the bully never takes your lunch money once.

    moving target
    1. Someone who continually moves or changes position, as to evade someone or something else.
    2. An object of criticism or verbal attack that changes in ways so as to make such attacks difficult.
    3. A desired goal, end, or object that remains in a state of constant or frequent change and thus is difficult to obtain or achieve.

The not safe for work thing. That bott had to look pretty hard as I can probably count the regulars who have avatars your female supervisor might in a snit over if she spotted them on one hand.
Still it is a small thing to ask if it keeps the money flowing.
Reminds me of Back about 15 years ago when I was spending a lot of time on a boat group's board and one of the members from Florida would post images from his massive collection of pinup /girly photos when he thought a thread was too boring. About got my***** in trouble more than once scrolling down the page when someone might have been looking over my shoulder and got pretty good at closing the page.

I’m at a loss for words, other than to say that at 76 I won’t see the real effects of what is fomenting in this country. Being in their 40’s my sons and DIL’s will see it but mainly I fear for my grandchildren.

It is what it is. I enjoy this joint, the builds, the discussions and especially all the pics. I like pinups like the next guy but I'll continue to enjoy the content regardless of avatars. Thanks Boss.

Ryan, your loss of income is not acceptble. If it would help, I would not mind some limited ad display as part of my user experience. As long as it's not overly intrusive.

Seems like a no-brainer to me guys. Needs to be done.
Even though it is not ideal in any way, it helps @Ryan to help us.
I do worry what will come down the "new world" pipe next...........

Phew. I thought my potty mouth might have got you in trouble!

I’d never actually noticed any risqué avatars, maybe I’d got to that age where you spend 10 seconds looking at the calendar girl, then 10 minutes trying to work out what wheels the car she’s leaning against is running.

Grateful for all your efforts. This is a lovely place to come and immerse yourself in cars without all the other***** that often dominates the modern world.
