Guys, I am just a mistunderstood (by my wife that is) motorhead. I dont like car shows unless they end up at the drag strip and I really dont want to talk to you if you dont work on your own car because you just wouldnt understand. I work at Year One as the sales manager so by day I am surrounded by muscle cars and until recently owned a low 12 second 1970 big block Chevelle. I had a 55 when I met my wife and sold it to buy her engagement ring about 11 years ago. I have a buddy that works at Year One with me (Brad54) who turned my onto the HAMB and damn if I cant stay off of it. I dig this place and it got me to thinking about how much I missed my 55. To make a long story longer and thanks to my buds rotten influence, I sold the 70 Chevelle, bought a 56 Chevy with a steel tilt front end,454 with dual fours, gear drive, fenderwell headers, 4 speed, line lock, and ladder bars. I love wrenching and tuning on my car to get the most out of the parts I have. I believe that hitting on the proper combination (cam, gear, header size, induction) is key and I love nothing more than waxing an open header, trailered "race car" at the strip. I mentioned my wife earlier. Do any of you guys have a woman that you really do love other than the fact that she hates your car? She calls my car "the other woman" and when I get home, before I go in the house, I pull the my newly purchased parts out of my truck and put them in my shop so she wont notice I have bought some more "useless ****". Thanks for the opportunity to be part of this social unnaceptable group of car guys (and girls). Keep on wrenching and my motto is " if its not broke, I can fix that".
"I love nothing more than waxing an open header, trailered "race car" at the strip." Do you wash them too? Waxing over dirt isn't good for the paint. Welcome. Mutt
You can get an account at Year One? That sounds dangerous... Welcome.... And I'm surprised Brad didn't talk you into a Buick...
welcome ,but year one stinks.had bad dealing with them 3 different times back orders out the rear.snotty remarks from salesmen.my money spends the same at other stores as it does at yours.as the other stores can now see.but wecome anyway
gofaster.........nice to have you in the family........the 56 looks great but I'm basis.............I drive a 55!! How long have you had the 56 ?
I apolgize if we let you down in the past. Unfortunately back orders do happen and its not for the lack of effort spent trying to get parts in the door or warehouse space like most people think but I can tell you that it is a battle that we constantly fight and work at. In regards to the snotty remarks, if you would PM me I would be interested in hearing them as the 40 odd sales people are my responsibility and I will not let that fly. I am glad that you have found a source for the parts that you need for your car and if/when you PM me, I will give you my extension number. Maybe we (YearOne) can have another shot at your business. If not, I do appreciate the feedback.
Nothing wrong with upgrading Always remember, "When Better Automobiles Are Built, Buick Will Build Them" Les
Welcome aboard! I worked for three years at an independant parts house so I understand the situation of being a middle man doing all you can to make everyone happy. It is an at***ude like yours that really makes a difference, as opposed to some I have delt with that obviously don't give a ****. Good luck here and with your rod, I've always loved a nice '56! -Fng Nate
You have to sneak the useless **** past her???? Ouch, I was dealing with a similar situation like that for quite a while(you noticed the "was").....its better now..... .....don't have to worry about that half.... Welcome aboard, nice 56 too
Welcome. I met you briefly at Commerce a couple of weeks ago. Brad hooked Tudor up with a couple of tickets so we took in one of the qualifying sessions. Looking forward to seeing the '56 at the track when the weather warms up. Until then it'll have to be Saturday afternoon beers if you get down to Hog Mountain. We're just down the road from Braselton. Dave
I've done Power Tour a number of times and the guys from Year One were always very pleasent to chat with. Treated me like a car person and not just a gurl Welcome to the HAMB
