A couple years ago I happened upon a junkyard sort of outside of Allentown, PA. They had a good amount of 40's and 50's trucks and cars, also a decent motorcycle lot. I can't for the life of me remember the name or how I got there, a friend was driving at the time and we didn't have any tools but I'm on the search for some extra Chevy AD parts and maybe some early Honda CB stuff, I know they had it I just can't remember where the hell it was? Anyway from around those parts know it? Or something equally awesome? I'm going out to stay with a friend near Easton and I want to drive out and find that yard again. I guess if your worried about letting the cat out of the bag you can pm me...but I think we should share with our bro's and sistas of the H.A.M.B. order.
There was a place out in Upper Black Eddy that my friends called Tinkers. I think that was the owners name. He was a big biker type. It was a big yard with lots of the older cars. The yard was off Marienstein Rd. (sp?) which is off Rt. 611 in Revere. I was there about 5 years ago but I have heard they were cleaning out the older stuff. I'm not even sure the yardis still there but it sure was neat towalk around to see what they had. Good luck with your search.
Could it be Harry's U-Pull-It, I think it is North of Allentown. No old stuff left from what I hear. The yard in upper Black Eddy is "Nicks Auto Parts" and is run by Nicks son Tinker. most of the old stuff is gone.
That's right... It IS called Nicks. I just checked Google maps and it's on Lonely Cottage Rd. An ariel view shows quite a few open sopts where cars used to be parked. I don't know how old the image is but it may or may not be worth looking in to... Again, best of luck!!
I was there a few years ago & about all we got was a mess of ticks. All of the yards near Allentown have seen their better day...the golden era has past some time ago. The yard you're probably thinking of is E-Z pull on Rt. 895 near New Ringold. There are still a lot of old cars there, but they are picked over and/or rusted beyond use. Still, for a couple of bucks entry fee, it's entertaining. The weather here is still decent. Harry's (in West Hazelton) old car stock is gone..so don't waste your time there.
Thanks guys, I think that E-Z pull was it, I just remembered there was this Apocalyptic school bus that had the roof cut off and it would take you to parts of the yard if you needed it. Thanks for that , gonna be staying in Upper Black Eddy so I'll check out Nick's too. I'll give an update on both yards if I get out there this weekend. Hey Classic Dreamer have you been out to Baughman's looks interesting but far from us was it worth it? I finished the truck, drove it cross country twice and just got back from Austin and New orleans in it. I'll have to get all pics together and do a build thread on the AD group.
