My brother in law desperately needs a driver's side axle for a (we think) 57 chevy rear end, his wheel flange is bent it's a front load with 10 bolts it has a drain plug, don't have the zxle to measure at the moment, but it is the one with the shallow bearing retainer cap??????????????????? NEED HELP In Phoenix
I've got a rear from a '57 and your discription sounds right. I'd sell the whole rear but don't want to part it out. It's got 3.08:1 gears.
29 Rat: ANY rearend from any full size Chevy, from 1955 to 1964 (including '64), will interchange...no need for a year specific axle...got to the junkyard and pull one from any of those years...most times you can buy the whole rear-end for the price of an axle... R-
i got a pair of axle shafts that are for a 57 i got at a swap last year, i paid 45 for the pair i think, bearings and all look good. i bought them for spare just in case's. probaly cost a shiny penny to ship them too. they are heavy. i would take the advice and hit the boneyard for a whole rear axle if ya can. but i am willing to part with mine too. p/m me.
Okay, i have a rear end housing, its a 55 to 64 not shure of year, how can i tell what axle i need? Is all the 3rds the same? I dont mean to jump on somones thread but this has been driving me crazy!
