Hi guys. I'm looking for rear axle suggestions for a 58-59 Apache that can handle the torque of a big block. What are some affordable and readily available options (Ford 9", 12 bolt)? I've found a few 12 bolt truck axles here locally but I've read that it's difficult to find posi's for these? If 9", what year to fit the correct width of this truck?

A 9" can be good. A full-size pickup unit would do the trick, but check out the tire clearance to the bedside. A little narrower could be good too, if you want big rubber.

I use Dana 60-70's in big 4x4 trucks, with good results behind high torque. Single-float units can be had for pretty cheap, with many ratio choices. Just avoid the Dana 61, commonly found in vans. It is not as strong, and takes some weird parts.
