I was fortunate to have gotten a "ride " on both a B-17 and a B-25. BEST DAMN MONEY I EVER SPENT. I you ever get a chance to go up in an old plane ,dont think about it it,DO IT I came away with a whole new perspective on the guys that were in these during the war.You can read and watch videos but being up in the air is completely different!!!
Very cool! My Grandpa was a Crew Chief in the 22nd Bomb group working on B-25's and B-26's. I can't look at an old plane without thinking of him. He's also one of the reasons, other than my dad, that I learned to love hotrods.
If any one is in the Burbank, Ca area the collings foundations b17 and b24 are there for the weekend. I checked them out a few weeks ago when they were in Okc.
I've been watching old episodes of 12 O'Clock High series just for the flying scenes....the story behind the 17's used is amazing a few still are flying. I got about 60 more episodes...lots of celebrity actors and actress's from both sides of the pond.
