Sorry about the confusion Dart, I was wondering about Mikes build though.
I'm sure you will find a roller, soon enough. No harm done, we are all brothers here.

  2. Decided to tackle polishing my center section of my WQC rear, once I learned of polishing, using a variable speed 4-1/2" grinder. This clearly reminds me that I SHOULD have just paid the extra $1,000 to have this show polished... Already had to sand out some "low spots" from not being careful enough. I discovered that I can use foam sanding blocks with 60 grit to take the surface off with some muscle, getting much better results. The toughest areas of this task is the rear section near the QC gears. I started on the rear side and almost done with the surface removal and will come back in with foam blocks with 2000 fine grit to hopefully see exciting results! In the meantime, even much more exciting is that I am getting ready to purchase a brand new 6-71 complete supercharger kit from Dyer's very shortly!!!!
I think we should continue any conversation other than my build on your conversation that you invited me on awhile back. Thanks for the update on your '52.
It's okay Mr. Stevens - dart4forte just wanted to chat before the holidays. Thanks for your reply and hope your holidays are joyous with your family too - and the entire membership here on the HAMB as well!

Polishing cast aluminum is a tough, but, rewarding job when your done.
Happy Holidays to you as well.

  4. I have done a bit of that type of work on my coupe, sanded my finger tips raw many times. Still worth it at the end of the day. Looks great Mike.

Just a suggestion......A tool like this can save many hours and fingertips.
Also, a ton of options are available for different grits of sandpapers.

Hey Mike, what are the chances of checking your project out? I’d like to get some ideas. Worth a cup of coffee on me.

  8. Like @mad mikey said in his exact words... "Sanded my fingertips raw many times". He's not kidding...
Thanks Mike - I set the chassis up so I could see (and others) this awesome QCR in full view! Polishing it was absolutely necessary, don't you think?
Couldn't have thank you enough - I'm ordering this tool as soon as I can!
I'll take you up on that sir... Most likely next weekend if it goes well. Look out for a PM soon enough.

  13. Got the project on hold, needing most of any cash my brother Scott and I have for putting it toward a sizeable rent and security deposit on a new rental home in Lake Havasu City that we're trying to move to. It's HOT ROD HEAVEN up there, and after attending the "Run To The Sun" hot rod show last November, we knew that we had to move there! You can say that this is the "AMERICAN DREAM" to own a home, but we're renting it. A BIG ASS GARAGE is waiting for me...
Not much at all, preparing to move out of Mesa, hopefully by the end of February. How've you been?

Hey Mike how’s your first month in Havasu treating you? Any time to play with the hotrod?

  15. I got a real good glimpse of the car while in her new surroundings and clearly saw that my Goodyear Super Cushions were WAY too tall. Got them for sale if anyone needs them at a very good price. They measure 28" tall, just an inch lower than my Radir Mickey Thompson cheater slicks at 29" tall. Not the "Bigs and Littles" that I'm after...

So I just bought some new shoes for the front, being only 25" tall and thinner for that so-important rake that hot rods are famous for! Talk about "PIZZA CUTTERS"... These new bias ply look radials are spot on!!!!!

  17. Now, I have to get a few guys over to help me remove the body ONE MORE TIME to finish up my chassis, start installing the aluminum fuel line with the pressure regulator, re-do the Stewart Warner fuel sending unit (botched it up when I installed the arm and float too short for an 8" deep mounting surface where the sending unit screws attach to). Measure, purchase and install a new driveshaft, finish polishing the quick-change center section. THEN the body goes back on to finish the tasks needed to fire-up and return to the street after 18 f" "king years of my patience nearly at its end...

The new shoes look great! What are your plans for exhaust? Can’t wait for that start up video!!

  19. Thanks Neil - If I can find a headers exhaust kit that one has the ability to make their own custom headers - this would be my favorite choice! On the other hand, I've been looking at Stainless Headers for a set of Funny Car Zoomies!
