You should have been a banker - they always beat the system. (sorry)

Seriously, you are an amazing craftsman. I hear all the time how hard it is for rod shops to find great people. You might have to relocate, though. FLA is not too strong right now.

Also, don't do what I did - if possible, don't sell your best cars. You'll regret it later.

    Best of luck!

    Guys,
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support. You hear about this happening so much anymore, that it kind of numbs you to it all, until it happens to you.

Having a tough day today, as it all kind of settles in. I know that things will turn around, just gotta keep fighting. Thanks again

Sorry to hear you've lost your job, that sucks. It's good to hear, though, that you've got good people standing for you. I look at it this way, you've got skills that are multifaceted and that'll allow you to be unemployed for less time. And, hey, maybe you'll get this "forever" project on the road now! :D

My wife lost her job right before we got married, so I get both sides of what you've got going on... the loss and the support. She ended up starting her own law practice, which I am now subsidising! :D Our plan really is to have a strong foundation set to come out of this "recession/depression" with her having a good reputation in her market. I have a feeling that you, too, will come out of this better than before.

  10. Hey man, I have been through job loss 3 times in the last 7 years. Try not to get too cynical or depressed and keep moving. It is a demoralizing kick in the nuts and never gets easier, but you have a great family by your posts and you have a supportive family on the HAMB to build you up again, so use them.

Good luck bro, I think by not putting a SBC in that awesome little RPU you are building you should go to the top on any resume pile! :D

  11. Sorry to hear about your job loss - it is good to have the excellent support of family and friends though. They say when one door closes, another one opens - I truly hope that is the same for you.

I've been in your shoes, as many of us have, and it's not a good feeling. What I learned though was that no one is going to find you a job - you have to go out and get it. I don't know what you do but networking is the key with a good resume and good interviewing skills. I practiced the interview stuff with friends, got my resume all polished up with help from more family and friends, and then hit the streets. I got back to work doing something, anything, just to stop the amount of money from going out, to keep my sanity, and you never know who you will meet. I worked in a hardware store for minimum wage when I was out of work one time - nice boss, nice place, lousy job but I found a much better job through one of the store customers I was helping. That job then parlayed into a better one. It is always easier to find a job when you already have one no matter what it is.

    Keep the faith ....

Not to sound like a broke record, but again I really appreciate the support. You all bring up some great points that will help out.

You all are awesome, thank you!

I'm hanging in there guys, a little dazed but hanging in there.

My job was property management, I managed an apartment community. This was a new career for me 4 years ago, but I dedicated myself to it and moved up pretty quickly.

I lived on site where I managed, so I also now have to move as well.

I am honestly open to about anything right now. Not an easy time to find work for sure. I will just have to use some of the advice that I gave residents in my community that fell into similar situations losing their job.

Again, I thank you all for your works of encouragement. I will keep fighting

Man, after seeing what a mess the clearcoat fiasco turned into, this has got to feel good just to stare at. You did real good!

  20. Sorry to hear about the bump in your career road. You've got an amazing skill set. Good fab and a great eye for what looks good. Architectural metal work would be an easy transition. Actually anything that connects art and quality fab work. I guess it depends on where the money is... Good luck in the search!

    Hello All,
Dan's brother Don here. Some good news for Dan. He found another position in town (so no moving out of the area) Great pay and it includes his apartment as part of his compensation package so within the next few weeks he will be up and running again!

Thanks for all of your kind words and thoughts

One good thing about being out of work is he has been working on the RPU daily and making great progress.:)
