Anybody got a Savage Clutches and Flywheel's sticker? Everytime I'd look at that guy, I'd laugh! :D

Decals on race cars were designed to show that the racer qualified for contingency money in NHRA and NASCAR. Note that quite a few designs were done by Tom Medley. He was the first employee at Hot Rod and would do the advertising art work if the company bought space in the magazine. Chicago Decal Company was repped by Bob Fall Advertising in San Diego and produced a lot of the speed equipment decals posted here.

  10. This is a quick donation to the thread. I have many but didn't take the time to dig them out. :) One is of the end of a tool chest that went to the drags with me for many years. The cragar decal was given to me by Bob Airheart, one of the brothers that developed the brakes. DSC00060.JPG DSC00059.JPG

  13. The very first of the stickers kids wanted in the 50's was the Mobil "Flying Horse" all the way down on the front fenders just in front of the doors.

For awhile these decals were very difficult to find as Mobil was protecting their trademarks/copyrights

One of my cl***mates had a bunch of cool stickers on his notebook. I asked him where he got them. He turned me on to the idea that some of these companies would send you a couple of free stickers if you sent a self-addressed stamped envelope with your request. It wasn't long before I had the outside of my notebook filled up with stickers from STP, hijackers, Cherry Bomb...
Getting hot rod stickers in the mail beat the heck out of an Orphan Annie decoder ring.

You'll never see it under the carpet however I picked up a couple of NOS Hydramatic water slide service decals for my 46 Olds. It's on transmission hump above the dipstick and under the carpet.

Nothing like going to a old junk yard and seeing a car with "Cl*** Winner" stickers on the back quarter windows. I think everyone at my high school had a set of STP stickers on their cars or their parent's car.

Can’t believe I forgot that my flathead had an Isky grind by Pete, so I ordered this yesterday.

Stickers were great back in the day when I was a young buck. I still like to see the old ones still attached.
    But I have outgrown stickers.

I don’t have any stickers/decals on any of my cars. Never liked the look. However, the beer fridge in the shop seems to be the target.

There is a downside to stickers.....When I worked for Bob Fall, I was bringing home stickers every week and giving them to my boys. They, in turn, put them on the sliding closet doors and when we sold the house, I had to replace four doors.

When I was a teenager my mother bought me a large tool box on wheels for Christmas one year but got pissed off when I put stickers on it.

    Hello,

Does anyone have a photo of a clear C&O Stick Hydro yellow/black sticker?
upload_2021-2-4_10-47-26.png It is a medium size oval sticker with a black transmission pictured inside the inner oval.

When I got my C&O Stick Hydro installed in my 1958 Chevy Impala in 1960, they had all sorts of sticker sizes of the same style. After the initial install and on the test drive, it was pretty obvious the Impala was so much quicker off of the starting line. It was either Gene Ciambella or Steve Montrelli that said they would give me a stack of the stickers.

Well, they gave me a huge one about 8-10 inches in diameter to put on my back window. That was not going to do it for me as I could not see out of the rear view mirror. So, they opened a drawer and there was a stack of newly printed yellow oval C&O Stick Hydro stickers in all sizes.
    upload_2021-2-4_12-16-20.png 1960-62 High School cruiser
Of course, I had enough to put on my high school notebooks and book covers. I even put one small (about 6 inches)yellow oval one in both rear side windows of the Impala. That was enough to keep most street hot rods from doing anything stupid. At each stop light, they watched as my Impala normally left the crosswalk and shifted automatically while moving across the intersection.
    upload_2021-2-4_12-15-29.png
On the next stop light, I could manually use the column shift lever to go through all of the gears one at a time. Usually, the excitement of the impending acceleration event was high, so it was kept in "D" automatic to do the shifting for me.

I gave away all of those stickers they gave me and kept one small yellow oval in my own desk drawer. But, over the years, since 1960, it has disappeared.

    Jnaki
So, if anyone has an original C&O Stick Hydro sticker or a digital photo of the sticker will do just fine. I may be able to make a sticker on the computer programs and printing paper I have stored away. At any rate, DOES ANYONE HAVE A YELLOW OVAL C&O STICK HYDRO STICKER?

Please contact me asap or post the photo of the sticker on this thread. Thank you....

I've covered every square inch of my Fiat with stickers. They look really cool and were cheaper than a wrap. I can't wait to see what it does in the 1/4!
